“It’s too early to tell how many of these reluctant gun owners will continue to support gun control now that they’re exercising their Second Amendment rights, but I’d like to believe that having to navigate the hoops and hurdles that anti-gun states have put in the way of gun ownership will make some folks think twice about things they may have supported in the past like mandatory waiting periods, gun and magazine bans, or “gun-free zones” that are inviting targets for those looking for an abundance of unarmed victims.”

For the first time, yesterday my wife asked me if I was carrying hoping that the answer was yes. Generally it's an eye roll when I confirm I am. But yesterday we were on the way to meet a random guy to purchase something he'd posted online.
Only took about 10 years to convince her carrying wasn't for conspiracy theorists.
On the way she also listened to me debunk an argument that 2a supporters "don't need" ar15s and should be willing to give them up...without getting upset that I disagreed.

Looks like a Jewish guy was clubbed with a bull horn by a pro-hamas guy in LA...and died. Jewish students locked into a library by a chanting mob...

I'd be buying guns too, let's see if they're smart enough to change their voting habits.

Most of these "reluctant gun owners" are fear driven. They run out and buy a gun or 2 with a little ammo. Then after a couple years when things calm down and sense of fear is gone they'll be the first one in line to turn them in "for the safety of the children" and heckle you and me for not following suit

After the Holocaust I will never understand why any Jewish person who can legally be armed in their country would not be armed to the teeth myself. The amount of support HAMAS has been getting especially amongst the younger folks is concerning to me.

That being said I have zero faith in these types of gun owners to all of the sudden becomes single issue voters.

I was genuinely surprised to learn of the pacifist-idealist worldview of many of the Israeli settlers. I had always envisioned the typical kibbutz-dweller as a suntanned woman plowing her garden with a Galil rifle slung across her back, not hippy chicks dancing in raves and unarmed people cowering in rocket rooms. Those people seem like they could have come from any American college campus. And then it struck me - maybe they did. It seems so many of them are idealistic experience-seekers from "somewhere else" (America, Germany, etc.), who probably grew up steeped in the Western Diplomatic Narrative of the Middle East, and really, genuinely believed the Palestinians were their friends. They got a massive dose of reality when the paragliders dropped in.

The simple ability to shoot back would have made a vast difference in the outcome, and perhaps in it happening in the first place. But if you're an affluent city-dweller from Germany seeking a rich, stimulating middle eastern experience, you're probably not equipped to understand that. It probably seems more like a college "summer abroad" program with occasional siren sounds.

Pretty sure that for what ever governmental reason they weren't allowed to be armed.. Just what I'm looking for a nice neighborhood where the folks next door have decided I'm to be exterminated and my government restricts my right to defend myself.

Given the history of that region, you would think the Israeli government would require extensive background checks and proof of why you should be exempt from a requirement that all adults be armed and well equipped to face the forces that want to exterminate them. Why they put limitations on the private ownership of firearms amazes me. The lessons of history are lost on some people.

There is this liberal socialist wannabe POS that's married into my family. He is always willing to go shooting with you, if you buy the ammo. I heard him actually say after being questioned about always voting Democrat and being a gun owner. "Democrats won't take our guns, that's just something Republicans say." Sadly, I believe that these blue no matter who type of voters will have to be really left to die before they change their voting habits.

Sadly, I think you're right. I know a couple of them. They're reality proof.

The Warsaw Ghetto uprising should be taught, and indoctrinated into all Jews....and gentiles too.
All inductees to the IDF are enlisted at Masada, all Israelis should be taught the lesson that they killed themselves rather than be slaves....again....seems like being armed would negate the need for killing oneself.........

Yes, and you would think that if ANYONE should have learned that lesson it would be the Jewish community.

Dead people voting fits in nicely with the Democrat model.

I treat liberals/progressives the same as Scientologists - they live in an alternate universe that has no basis in reality. When confronted with their views, just smile and respond with "Well, isn't that SPECIAL!" <snicker>
