My son in law (I absolutely love this kid) is a fireman. He works for a large metro fire department. The dept gave a nice sized bonus for the guys for having stuck it out through the COVID crap, you know, hero stuff.

He did actually catch COVID (and documented with a positive test and symptoms) and has antibodies. Due to this and a dislike of of any meds, he chose not to volunteer to let the .gov experiment with his body.

Now the suck, since he did not actually receive the vaccine he only got half the bonus the other firemen got!

If that isn't discrimination, what is? In this current environment contesting this would most certainly be a 'no joy' but everything in me wants to call BS to this and more...

When you say "large metro" I take it you don't mean Milltown?

OK back to serious. Tell him to keep hard copies of everything. Was this documented as being part of performance or just willy-nilly?

I figure there is an Army of Darrell the Hammer Isaacs and Ken Nunn type lawyers out there ready to sue anyone and anything when the COVID dust settles. Have the documentation and jump on the train.

Remember when HIPPA was a big thing? People would freak out over stuff that you could find in the phone book. Now? WTH?

This is a consequence of the "cancel culture" attitude. Go along with the group think or suffer their wrath. Too bad our society has dropped to this low standard. Challenging this will likely result in more heartache and further canceling. Hope the SIL is doing well and can move past the issue.

He is fine and still working full time. He is the son of a retired fire chief and the grandson of a retired fire chief. He would never stir the pot and go against 'family' but it doesn't change the stench of the advantage the system takes of him...

He will likely fare better in the long game. I'm sure if they figure out 10 years down the road we're starting to grow a second nose in our armpit or something, those that got the jab would pay back that half the bonus tenfold to reverse things.

And nobody willing to honor natural immunity, which science shows is FAR more effective than any jab, tells you all you need to know about this. It isnt about protecting us. Its about compliance. (and making money, etc) If this were about protection, we could opt out with even onerous repeat positive antibody tests. But since that isnt even an option... think about it.

I'm almost embarrassed to type this, but all employees of the City of Fort Wayne received $200 (taxable) if they showed proof of vax. Even us seasonal employees, who are not covered by city insurance. Not knowing what else to do, I deposited the paycheck on which the "reward" appeared. My brother called me a ******* hypocrite. .

Well at least he got a bonus. Most of us got to look for new jobs, such as myself…

I would personally fight this. If they are letting him work the same amount as the other firemen, that means they consider him “fully qualified” so it would be interesting to see what they called the bonus. Depending on how much he’s “out” it may not be worth it monetarily but it is definitely worth the fight for the sake of freedom.

    Keep us updated!

That bonus isn't going to look like much money when the long term effects of the shot become apparent.

You can call it discrimination or vaccination bias or whatever you want, but good for him. I truly appreciate the service of those who serve others. I've done it for most of my life, and the gratification that comes with that is worth more to me than any monetary reward. Not that I mind monetary rewards. ;)

He may have gotten less financial reward than others, but he stuck by his beliefs, and the reward he should feel from that is immeasurable and goes well beyond currency.

While subservience can certainly be purchased, integrity cannot. Give him my thanks.

What did his union rep say?
Oh, well I doubt he's the type of guy to consult his union, because he appears to be the kind of guy that can think for himself.

However, if he had consulted his union, I'm sure he would have been told to toe the communist/democrat/socialist party line, and get poked.

Thankfully, he's apparently not an idiot. :):
