I just ordered a Tactical Machining 80% 1911 frame last week. Being the noob that I am, trying to get my research going before I do anything to it.

First of all I would like to know if anyone can speak to whether this frame will take 10mm?
If so does the mag well need to be sized?
does the feed ramp need to be set at a specific angle different that .45?
anything else I need to look out for?
    any good sources for research?

The feed ramp angle is different than for a .45. The mag well should be the same. There is a lot of intricate machine work in completing a 1911 frame. So measure twice and and take your time...or you will have a nice paperweight.

Yeah I am guessing this will take me at least a year to complete. Between research, buying parts, and getting them to fit, rinse, repeat.

Most 10mm barrels are ramped, so you will need to figure out which on you want to use and then mill the frame to fit that ramp design.

There are non ramped 10mm barrels out there (i.e. Colt ) but they are not a fully supported chamber like the ramped styles are.
