This evening my wife and I went to Goodwood Brewery on the riverfront outdoor patio in Owensboro for my birthday dinner. At the same time the Brewery was hosting a live local sports radio show. There were 6 Kentucky Wesleyan College football players waiting to be interviewed for the show.
At exactly 6PM the local VFW across the street plays taps and has a small ceremony each night. The second I heard the first bugle note these 6 young men rose to their feet hand over heart facing the flag. There was no coach or handler there to prompt them they just knew what to do. They were the first up and slowly every one else rose eventually. It made a special night a little bit better for me.
