I have a Ruger 44 mag carbine and matching 10-22. Both have nasty 7 pound factory pulls. I would like to get the both down to around 3 lbs.

The 10/22 can be done yourself, very cheaply and every easily, with minimal mechanical skills. There are several "how-to's" on the net such as these two which I used to help the first time I took mine apart. <Your New ruger 10/22>

I didn't have the tools available to machine the factory parts so I ended up going with the PC hammer and sear kit and I'm really happy with my 10/22 now. If you have a newer 10/22 (with the plastic housing, don't forget to order bushings too)
There is also a wealth of knowledge and information available over at RimfireCentral.com - Rimfire Community!

As for the carbine, I can't help you with that one. I'm sure others will know more than I.
