Hey guys this is just out of pure curiosity and I was wondering if anyone had insight...

I just emailed my local police department and they said I was cleared locally on my background check and she mentioned they used the Triple I (III) and the state will look at it and let me know. I asked her if the state check was the NCIS and she just said the state takes a more extensive look at the past 5 years. But I am still curious as to what goes on... I have never been arrested but lets say I had and then I slipped through the III but my arrest was more than 5 years ago would I somehow get through?

Just wondering why they do two different levels of checks and what they look for at both levels.

    Thanks!

So an approval in the III at the local level is pretty much a green light? I just didn't know why they would check at two levels.

Soooo, more information is given in the NICS? We use III for criminal histories and they are EXTREMELY complete and date back decades.

Correct. Did YOU watch the video?:D No, I understand.

When you have time, please watch the video. The III is one of the databases that the feds use to conduct the NICS.

    IIIs are USUALLY very accurate.
