    The new bill doesn't make sense but it's obvious the State doesn't care about our deer herd. Many would be happy if there were no deer left. The auto insurance companies are putting more money in the State's pockets than hunters.

    It's been awhile since Kirk's First Law has been invoked, sooooo....

    In Texas, for game animals any firearm may be used, no restrictions on magazine capacity (and suppressors are legal), with a couple exceptions. Certain kinds of birds can be taken only with shotguns limited to three-round capacity, and deer/elk/antelope/bighorns may not be hunted with rimfire. Non-game animals may be taken with any firearm, no restrictions.

    I've never heard of anyone going all gangsta on deer or anything else (possible exception for hogs). If anything, people are likely to go the other way with handgun hunting, using revolvers.
