....today announced that it has received contracts from the Massachusetts State Police and the Vermont State Police for new duty firearms from the M&P Pistol Series. The Massachusetts State Police has selected the M&P45 pistol, while the Vermont State Police has adopted the M&P40 pistol as its new service firearm...

Very cool. I have been a Glock fan for a while but I think the M&P's are great. They can be easily changed to fit many different hands and they shoot great. Wouldn't mind seeing them in the military either.

This quote from the press release shows that the ergonomics and customizability are playing a large part in these switch over decisions... Not unlike the civilian world.

"At the conclusion of the trial, the M&P45 was selected due to its ergonomic design, accuracy, reliability, and the pistol's ability to be customized to meet individual preferences."

I believe both of these departments were already carrying S&W's. Great guns regardless of what they were previously carrying.

Odds are they were both carrying Glock pistols.

When we tested the Gen4 Glocks earlier this year I bought a M&P and we put it through the same test protocol. It ran flawlessly and several of my instructors prefer the M&P over the Glock. I could go either way, I like them both.
