I know I am not a lawyer or judge, so my opinion means squat. But I consider that the same as a poll tax.
Granted, the fee for the LTCH could also be considered that. But it is disguised as a "fee".

But this just strips away the disguise. An "in your face" poll tax.

What we need is to encourage the Obama supporters to enlist in the military. Let them bleed and die instead of the conservatives (Libertarians tend to be too anti-war yet are not adverse to fighting). Wonder what would happen if the left had to actually get their hands dirty.

And if this bill would ever make it into law, how would they ever enforce it against their own supporters? If they did house to house searches in the urban areas there would be protests all over the place.

They are typically anti-war, anti-bailout. You will just have a lot of people declaring themselves conscientious objectors. That's not going to change a thing. The real divide in this country is between the haves and the have nots. The military has too many people from the lower classes, and not enough of the middle or upper classes. If we start conscripting the sons and daughters of doctors, lawyers, senators, etc., our wars would end in a heart beat. Maybe we'll actually follow the Constitution and declare war through the congress for once.

Liberals don't shoot their guns, except for the random double barrel unloading off the back porch when they hear a funny noise (I hear that makes them feel in control). So they wouldn't mind a 50% tax on people that do shoot regularly. But if we proposed a 50% tax on anything they did use, like say tea, then they'd find it equally intolerable. The arrogance for even proposing such a thing to me is intolerable. Not only should these politicians be tarred and feathered, but they should be ejected from the country immediately and sent to Cuba, Mexico--or anywhere south of the border really--and see how they like their gun control.

It seems as though there's a never ending stream of these laws that get introduced every session...out of curiosity, are there the ones that chip away, if not outright topple NFA, GCA, etc every year? Because I sure don't read about them.

Which countries military were you in?
Ours tends to reflect society.
There are poor, but there are a lot of middle class, and even some wealthy.
I might agree that infantry has a higher percentage of poor, which would skew observations by someone in the infantry.

I was thinking that they would willingly die for their god-king, the Great Lord Obama.
