In Dallas Texas, the DFW gun range was really nice. Pricey, but very nice. I have not been to the Frisco Range that was mentioned earlier. The Dallas Fort Worth area has several really top end places. I have done a couple transactions at an "upscale" gun shop in Dallas. Willoughby McCabe & Company.

It is as far away from gun shows in a hog barn at a fair ground as you can get. You make an appointment and you are hosted by the representitive. Starting by sitting in chairs a for chat, you are surrounded by the finest exotics you can imagine. He will show you the fine grade firearms he feels would be a good choice for your safari or collection. He can help arrange proper international transfer if you intend to purchase the firearm as a gift for someone like a member of European royalty. One must dress and act properly to be a customer at this establishment. 90% of the dealers at the 1500 would be asked to leave the store.

They have a website if you want to glimpse at what that side of the fine arms market looks like. I do not think Indianapolis would be a good area for a place like Willoughby and McCabe & Company. I would be interested in hearing about an upscale range, especially if they would have sanctioned International Small bore and International pistol matches.

I had actually heard of another range coming to Carmel, but didn't have specifics.

That would be a VERY interesting location. A driver and 5 iron from Woodland Country Club. :)

    ETA:

Still early planning, I believe, and that location is not accurate. Elsewhere along 116th. In currently vacant space that will need to be seriously renovated to accommodate things that go boom.

There is a very long thread about the Point Blank Gun range coming into Carmel. Yes ground has already been broken for it. They own 2 stores in the Cincinnati area and yes it will be a state of the art gun range. Search this forum for Carmel Gun Range and you'll see it. Over 35 pages on it so far. There is also a link showing exactly where it is. It's just east of Pennsylvania St. and north side of Congressional Blvd.

I have some insight into this. My friend owns the shopping center just to the west of this (proposed) location. There is a group trying to turn the former Border's Book Store at 116th & Keystone into a shooting club. Don't know much about the "upscale" aspect you mentioned.

My buddy, who is a gun enthusiast, said that this group had most all of the approvals they needed from the neighbors (Macaroni Grill, the golf course, McAllister's) but they were waiting on a few more neighbors to sign on before they went to get the necessary zoning variance.

My buddy seemed to be optimistic that the deal would go through.
