While we are on the topic of stories, I feel compelled to tell one. This story reflects more upon the character of most of the people I have shot with in my limited experience in USPSA

I was running the kindle one day and had an individual approach me and pull me aside. He is a reputable shooter and a good one at that. He wanted to edit one of his previous stages. A relative of his was RO'ing and gave him a double on one of the previous stages instead of an Alpha-Mike. He told me to take an A away and add a Mike. He said he remembered pulling off and missing the target and didn't feel right keeping the double alpha. He could have gone on with the match and no one would have been the wiser.....but he didn't.

Would everyone in USPSA have changed their score in this instance??? Absolutely not...but there are more of these type of people participating in USPSA than there are the type that this thread was started over.

Actually, what he did is wrong.

edit. Not ethically, but he broke several rules in doing this.

To be 100% by the book, should have had the original RO approve the change...
9.7.4 A score sheet signed by both a competitor and a Range Officer is conclusive evidence that the course of fire has been completed, and that the time, scores and penalties recorded on the score sheet are accurate and uncontested. The signed score sheet is deemed to be a definitive document. It may only be changed to add penalties under Rule 8.6.2, or to correct arithmetical errors, or by mutual consent of the competitor and the originating Range Officer, or due to an arbitration decision. Changes are defined as modifications to the score sheet after both parties have signed off on the score sheet.

I wasn't referring only to the cheater. Between this thread and the one on the other forum, I've seen a lot of unprofessional behavior all around and it's really turned me off wanting to try USPSA.

I won't address what happens on internet forums other than it rarely mirrors what happens in real life with respect to people who participate in USPSA.

At matches, you will hear a lot of rough language and teasing, but that because it's a bunch of guys who know each other and not unique to USPSA. I am more guilty of this than most. Other than that, it's a pretty tame environment. In fact, some squads will have very little "guy behavior." In some cases when the squad has members that are not "guys," most will be respectful either intentionally or by instinct. It's not universal, but the general trend is there. If you are averse to all harsh language and hearing other browbeat each other, it might not be a good environment for you. If you would prefer to be exposed to as little as possible, most matches will have a squad or two that have a bit more decorum.

Chuck Anderson I'll post the timeline I know. I can't speak for the other AD's and what they knew. The first I heard was Monday morning (5 days ago). SteveThomas notified the BOD as a whole that he had received information that an RO was reporting a time lower than the timer showed. He said he had passed this information to the A6 director and asked the A4 if he had any historical knowledge of it. He said at the time he thought it was sufficient, which based on the information he gave me, I would have completely agreed with. Later that day I asked who. Tuesday afternoon (4 days ago) PVH's name was announced on Doodie which was the first I knew who it actually was. And what was actually going on. There was a discussion that afternoon and the next morning about what procedures, DNROI discipline policy, rule book, bylaws etc to follow and what the immediate action should be. Wednesday afternoon (3 Days ago) John Amidon notified PVH that his RO status was suspended. Note it was the middle of the week and there wasn't a lot of concern that PVH would be ROing a match on a Wednesday. That afternoon I requested to investigate the matter. I did so based on the fact that I have no personal relationship with PVH as well as the background to do the investigation. My concern was that even if Steve and Jay did an excellent job there would be those who didn't believe they were doing everything they could to be thorough. I took that investigation on Thursday (yesterday) I don't have answers yet. I'm not just looking at whether PVH was shaving or adding time. I'm trying to figure out if anyone else had any knowledge or culpability. At this time I have found zero evidence of that, but I'm not done yet. Phil called and asked for an update on the timeline which I gave him last night. I also posted my expectations of when I will finish on the Doodie Project this morning. Honestly, if it was discovered this week or the week before, I don't really care. There is nothing I've found that it was being covered up. I've been a lot more open with this investigation than what I normally do (which is a really weird feeling). If you have questions call or email. I won't be answering my phone this afternoon because I have something more important to do. We'll have answers as soon as we have answers. I doubt it will take long after I know that the membership knows.

Here is a cut and paste of the stuff that has been pulled together and on doodie

There's no way the BoD doesn't issue a permaban on Paul Hendrix.

I'm more concerned that those that benefited from his cheating are not going to be investigated adequately to determine if they were aware of him cheating.

Therefore, I propose that Doodie crowd source this investigation and see if we can determine exactly who Hendrix helped and who he hurt. I think we collectively have more brain power, and more importantly, more time and internet savvy than 10 USPSA boards.

I know people have submitted those complaint forms to USPSA, but we don't know how comprehensive those complaints are. We should compile a coherent document that we can submit to the Board. The board isn't going to weed through 30 pages of inside jokes and newbie introductions.

Again, we aren't making a judgement but rather trying to get to the depths of the cheating and determine if those Hendrix helped knew anything about it.

If you have names to add, cut and paste the list above and add to the names in a new post. Add Youtube links, too, if you can. I'm going to add Youtube links when I get more time. If someone beats me to it, that's great. I suggest downloading/ripping any video you see. Also, correct any errors you see (just make a note of the change when you correct something) This can be a Wikipedia-style effort

All I can say is that who ever the troll accounts belong too, and it seems like it is more than one person did a ton of homework in reviewing and putting this together on something that seems to have been very blatant going on with at least for sure Paul Hendrix, and it seems to have benefited specifically Rob Jessee and maybe a few others.

I appreciate you guys backing off a bit yesterday. I'm hoping to get this wrapped up before next week. The only possible delay might be going to the a Steel Challenge next week. And only because if I have questions that will be an opportunity to sit down with the experts who programmed ShotCoach and have them review my work. As an FYI I'm also working with a guy who does forensic video examinations for court. I think between these guys we should have a definitive answer.

lots of trash talk in this thread from guys who have never shot uspsa (but who aren't afraid to tell us what it is and isn't)...
not sure why, in a thread about uspsa officiating issues. at least now we can debate which sport is more "real world," that'll be productive and on-topic.

I wish I could make it this weekend so I could also get some pointers from an idpa master....

To the members of USPSA Area 6.
I have spoken with people that I trust and respect their views.
In review it appears that I have fallen short in safeguarding the trust and duties place with me in this sport.
    I apologize for those shortcomings.*
I accept the full responsibility for my shortcomings, as well as, any pain or embarrassment caused.
I have resigned my membership in this great organization.
At some point in my future I hope to rebuild that trust.
    Humbly Submitted,
    Paul Hendrix
