    Venezuela bans private gun ownership

Another country dooms itself to be ruled by tyrants.
Already is. They just want to make it easier to keep control.

On a different note, why do people fixate on murders with guns? A murder is a murder, whatever the weapon that was used.

It found that over 70% of all homicides in South America are as a results of guns - in Western Europe, the figure was closer to 25%.

Agreed. Knives, bats, hands, cars, it does't matter. If you are going to kill someone, you will find a way.

Yeah. Europe always brags about how few gun deaths there are yearly, but if they're illegal and their plan is working, shouldn't there be zero?

Also, they never mention how many knife, bat, stick, etc. deaths there are yearly there.

Interesting that there is not a comment section after the article. It would be interesting to see the reactions of the Brits on the story.

There aren't any European countries that completely ban firearm ownership. Britain is the closest AFAIK.

The article does not match the title of the article.

"Venezuela has brought a new gun law into effect which bans the commercial sale of firearms and ammunition.

Until now, anyone with a gun permit could buy arms from a private company."

How does that match banning ownership? It bans sales & purchases.

    Talk about sloppy logic/writing.

The article is confusing, but when you add this line:
The government has been running a gun amnesty in the run-up to the introduction of the new law to try to encourage people to give up their illegal arms without fear of consequences.

it sounds more like the headline is correct.

We are very, very close...............................as our country is becoming just the same way. We'll have only very rich people, and then all the rest of the poor people. The next step is disarming. Don't take it for granted................stay active!!!
