    Really!? NO REALLY!?

This is completely OUTRAGEOUS, not to mention a blatant disrespect to a veteran. I just cant even begin to imagine one's mindset to ask a VETERAN OF WAR to remove USMC or ANY kind of patriotic sticker from anything for any reason. What's next, no more American flags bigger than 12"x16"?

I am wondering how it can be classified as an advertisement? Advertising what? He isn't selling anything. I would also bet there are people running around that condo complex with Mary Kay stickers or some sh*t like that too.

This is completely and utterly nonsensical....people need to get a life and learn some respect!

    From the article:

...as the lawyer who helped with the first condominium I purchased told me "Just remember: They're little socialist colonies."

All you need to know, right there.

And again I say I'll never sign one of those damned agreements.

In defense of HOAs, you would have to see the neighborhood I moved out of.... There was one home that had a dirt driveway (Asphalt cement was the norm) and 1000+ lawn orniments. HOAs can go overboard, but when your neighbors can't behave themselves they can be a good thing.

    Now USMC bumper stickers :shoot:HOA

    wow....just wow...

I know he signed the HOA agreement when he moved in and all that...but...

I think I'd be getting a lawyer and discussing how they showed the other cars with bumper stickers on them too. For cryin out loud there's an Obama sticker shown, does that mean the HOA is a radical anti-government association. Hmm they better put them on a watch list!

Doubt any of that'll happen of course, especially since there was a lot of "I didn't know about this, I've never seen this letter" and "No comments or replies from the HOA when asked about it".

What a large load of Moo :poop: ....

Some people like lawn ornaments. I don't know what Indiana's like, but I lived in Michigan/Ohio for about 30 years, and I never really saw that much diversity of housing. Everybody in a given neighborhood (ungoverned by HOA's) pretty much maintained their stuff to a more-or-less similar degree.

It was something of a culture shock coming to Oklahoma, where Toby Keith's multimillion-dollar property is right next door to trailer houses on acreage with rusty cars in the yard. My first house was in a neighborhood so diverse you couldn't tell who lived there: doctors or unemployed rednecks or both. The house next to mine was a trailer in the woods with a junkyard.

Over time, I've simply become immune to it. If my neighbor wants to have a rusty old Ford tractor in a corrugated lean-to in front of his house, fine by me. It's his property, he should enjoy it as he sees fit. If I don't want to look at it, I'll plant some shrubs or trees to block the view. Everybody pretty much leaves everyone else alone when it comes to their property, and that's as it should be, IMO.

You know what call me an a$$ but HE signed the HOA Contract to live there under the COMMUNITIES RULES.

Moral of the story. Be damn sure you fully understand what you are putting your signature on. Because somehow you are given up your rights to something...

Well, the subtle point I guess I was trying to make is that yes, you are correct he signed and agreed to obey the rules....but I am questioning whether or not it actually violates the rules. They said it was an "advertisement" and I think that needs to be clearly defined. Typically an advertisement is paid and for the purpose of profit....although I am sure there are many definitions that will just indicate "to call attention to". Also, he has agreed to follow the rules for his property that is part of the HOA, but does that include his car because it's parked there? What about guests?

I certainly don't have the answers... I didn't even stay in a holiday inn express last night. I am just curious and can't fathom that the HOA rules would forbid this....but I suppose at this point I am hardly ever surprised anymore at the level of stupidity being achieved.

Back to your point.....I agree 100%....make sure you always know what you are signing!

I think he's going to win big time on this, looks as if the HOA President sent this off without discussion to other board members.

Besides unless you remove the dealership logo from the vehicle, it is a direct form of advertisement and I'd start with the first picture taken of the HOA president's car, and every car parked out in view.

Whether this violates the rules, I don't know. But jeremy is right, if you move into one of these places and you sign the agreements, you have to live with them. I can remember hearing of one in the Chicago area where you couldn't own a pick up, you couldn't have a vehicle in your driveway longer than few hours, you couldn't keep your garage door open, rules on Christmas decorations... it just went on and on.

I agree with you, but... WTF, bumper sticker complaints... Yes the HOA has the "right" to do this. and if i was in a jury i would have to back their decision. it is the contract. the guy signed it. but still.... WTF, bumper stickers... really? people just suck. end of story. bunch of damn busy body bitches with nothing to do but complain about other peoples lack of conformity to their stupid code. we got them in our HOA too. ugh.

If the guy wanted to make a statement, every single car in that neighborhood has a make and model decal or emblem usually on the front and back of the car. DUH. That my friend is advertising via the car manufacturer. Fine the president for his car manufacturer's logos and maybe the hole issue will be dropped.
