No, we don't teach to slingshot the slide - just goes to show you that old habits are hard to break, and we will do what we have practiced under stress.

Great weekend, though - more to follow!

Nice video, there's nothing wrong with slingshoting the slide you don't have to fix what isn't broken. I love those rotators I have one also, very challenging.

everything great except for the 80's porn music.....

Let me know when you want to flip for the ASCAP bill and I'll change it.

I'm sure it would be much better with some heavy metal, video game soundtrack. That's what makes all official!

Looks like fun. I'll have to get some tires and try that. What are the specifics of the drill. Hits per target required, time expected, aprox. distance covered?

Hit the targets as prescribed - that changes at the whim of the lead Instructor. Sometimes it a prescribed amount on each plate...sometimes it's a certain order...whatever the moment requires. We strive for 100% hits, but if that's happening then we suggest the students try to shoot a little faster, We like to push them till they start missing two in a row, then we tell them to throttle it back.

Time? No timer - time is arbitrary as no two people move, shoot or scan at the same pace. However, all fights are about time, so we suggest they go as fast as they can without creating safety issues and missing targets.

The drill shown is for them to learn with - it's not a test. Made up on the spot with what was at hand. We ran it a few times and then changed it all. It just happened to be a run we had two camera angles of, so we made a video of it.

4 of the 5 rotator targets are at 8m, one is at 12. The paper was from contact to 3'.

We had them moving right to left since that presents more of a challenge for right handers. Later in the day we just started running everything support hand only, including reloads and stoppage reductions.

In answer to the other question above, we recommend grasping the slide behing the ejection port with the support side fingers (for the right hander) over the right side of the slide, thumb along the left side.

I just got in from a 13hr teaching day and I'm beat. I'll try to address the slide manipulation issue better in the next few days.
