Waiting on my Shield! what do you do while waiting?

So I odered my new Shield last week and was told I should get it within a week as I am first on the list.
And Im getting super anxious to get it I have 1000 rounds of 9mm and the kydex IWB holster just winkin me in the face taunting me lol

So I got to wondering what do you guys do while waiting?
Whats the longest youve waited for a gun?

Just wait. I find that if I get impatient to get to shoot something or obtain something, it's a failing in responsibility and patience on my part, therefore, I do not deserve the gun. Remember, it's a weapon, a tool, not a toy.

I waited my entire life to get my grandfather's Weatherby. You're talking years fella...

Haha Ive been watching a lot of youtube videos on it already.

And no its not a toy but I need to practice and get comfortable with it before I trust it to replace my glock as a carry weapon.

While you are waiting you can look into replacing the sights and begging any and everybody for another magazine or two.

The Shield was the first gun I had to wait for and it arrived within a week.

I looked into sights, looks like the only ones made so far are fiber optic, no night sights. but have seen people use MP ones slightly trimmed.
and same for me, never had to wait before

I would be researching on the internet to see if there is any accessories you want to purchase. Maybe another type of holster if you want to shake up your carry method to OWB or shoulder holster. Buy some cool targets to shoot at! Pop cans, 2 liters, and paper plates work great. If you have 1000 rds of ammo, you better have some good targets (preferably steel) or you'll just be wasting ammo!

This is good.
Of course everytime your around a magazine rack find a mag with your gun and drool over it then put the magazine back (most are junk anyway).

It's like waiting for Christmas as a child, ain't it?

XS makes a dig dot for them I installed some last week they are around $100.00

the next buy is not really on my radar yet, not really sure what id want..so much to choose from..probably a rifle, maybe an AR platform
hickman I dont think it would, Im really hoping it comes before wed. goin to the range to work the glock and ruger before I sell the ruger

I saw the XS sights, not a fan i really like the CAP ameriglo's its what I have on my glock but any 3 dot tritiums are good. does anyone know if anyone has made any yet?
also does anyone know where to get a lot of cheap targets? preferably reactive not just paper?

Looked into 1911's however from not being able to fire one I was not really impressed for the price (granted Ive never fired one)

How long have you waited for a gun?

29 years. In 1983 I was involved in a car wreck that confined me to a hospital for several weeks and incinerated my car. Somewhere within the car was my Smith & Wesson 61-3 Escort. Pan forward to last weekends Indy 1500 gun show. I came across an "Escort" that was tagged NIB-Never Fired. Further inquiry from the 2 brothers that owned the booth led me to the story that the one brother purchased 5 of these as groomsmens gifts for his wedding party. His brother had kept his and never fired it. I am now the proud owner of a brand new 40 year old firearm. It wasn't cheap, but you can't put a price on memories!
Oh, and it's not mint anymore.
