What / Who - Weapon Retention & In-Fight Access By Lockout Jujutsu
www.teamjujutsu.com
When - June 25, 2017 6 Hour Class - 2 PM - 8PM
Location: Keystone, IN South of Bluffton
Instructor: Mike Vanover with 3-4 assistant's
Cost: $150.00
We started in the classroom with the initial paperwork and safety talk. After the introduction we talked about the Glock 17T training guns we would be using later in the day. We talked about ammo selection, point of aim ocular cavity, center mass of chest etc. Talked a little on trigger control and reset. Touched on when to draw or not to draw gun. Stance if possible.
After moving out into the training area we patted each other down as if we were TSA Agents looking for sharp objects and guns that were not needed for the training.
We started out working on (MUC) managing unknown confrontations. We practiced looking for pre-cursers such as grooming, looking around for witnesses and a few other cues. We worked on a few techniques to get away if need be. Elbow strikes with pads, eye flicks etc.
Gun retention - we used blue guns, they were orange, to practice keeping the bad guy from grabbing the barrel of the gun and taking it away. Also worked on keeping our gun ours when it was grabbed still in the holster.
Scenarios - We ran 4 scenarios and we participated in 2 for each person while watching the other scenarios. These were shoot or no shoot.
Few things learned -
Some things may not be as they appear
Bad things happen quickly
Just having a gun is not always the answer. You may not be able to get to it.
I felt Mike and assistant's did a great job of teaching and felt we were engaged in learning. I would recommend taking this class as I would like to train with Mike in the future.
