I picked up a a sweet little Kimber Solo a couple weeks ago. It feels great to hold and is a sexy gun but unfortunately it is temperamental as hell. It only likes premium ammunition and sometimes not even that will make it happy. It's a diva. It will never be a carry gun for me because of how unpredictable it is.

For those of you who have one, what brands of ammo do you have good luck with?

The gun probably has less that 500 rounds through it, will it ever get better?

I found this video interesting. It made me feel better knowing it wasn't just my gun.

If its still under warranty, I would send it in to Kimber and let them work on it.

I had one a couple years ago and it was a great little gun. I shot WWB and Federal Champion 115 grain from Wal-Mart and Hornady CD. I will admit I only put a couple hundred rounds through it though, but if it had issues I figure they would have been early on.
As said above, it sounds as if yours is worth a trip to the factory for a warranty repair.

I think kimber recommends nothing lighter than 124 grain bullets, but I know a guy who has one, and his shoots 115 grain fine, but we've also sold some that wouldn't! if I were you I'd try some 147 grain bullets to break it in, then switch to the lighter ones to see if this helps

We have one, and my wife EDC's it on a regular basis. When we first got it (it was new), the mags would drop when firing so it went back to Kimber. They "fixed" so well that it's now more difficult than I prefer to drop the mag, but it's better than having it fall out on its own.

Out of the box it was semi reliable with 115gr WWB, it would FTEject once or twice in 100 rounds. Since Kimber spec 124gr, I bought a case (500) of Blazer Brass 124gr and had no issues over the course of several months. When that case was gone I tried some 115gr (Privi, S&B and WWB) and found it now fires those without issue. The carry ammo has always been Federal HST 124gr from day one, and it's fired 250 and change of those without any issues.
