what do you know about Purdue closing rifle range?

I hear things about lead in the building and politics.....

Anything can be done to help?

They shoot at the Armory and their website says nothing about closing it down.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is something going on, that it is 100% politics. IU used to have a great indoor range but it was shut down by one of their exalted presidents who thought watching students walk around campus with rifles or shotguns slung over their shoulder looked bad.

Purdue's range is 100% .22LR so I wouldn't be surprised either to find out environmentalists are complaining about the "lead".

Purdue used to have a nice range in the basement of the Co-Rec. It was closed in 1996 because of .... Lead contamination. I basically lived at that range. Have kids now so I guess my sperm survived.

I remember going to the ROTC turkey shoot at the armory and getting a bunch of free food coupons in the mail as a prize.

It is too bad they are closing that range. It was large enough for the high school state match and in a central location. now I think it is at Concordia in Ft. Wayne.

Currently attend Purdue and I haven't heard anything about the Armory closing the range down. It was closed for like a week a couple weeks back for maintenance in the Armory, but thats about it.

I remember the range that used to be in the Co-Rec.
Great fun.
And it was cheap too iirc.
We would go with a dollar or two because you just had to buy the ammo.
