    Tell me about it. In the 80s they assesed an extra 1% tax on prepared foods to pay for the Hoosier Dome in Marion County.

    That evolved into the RCA dome and was subsequently torn down in 2008.

    Even though the dome is gone, (and presumably paid for) the tax is still here, going strong.

    I think that Tax moved to the surrounding counties too at some point.

    I wonder what rental car places are going to charge rental customers?

    Avis, at least, just charges the renter for whatever the toll/fine amount is. I ran into that once in Boston, when I got stuck headed toward the wrong bridge getting off of the peninsula where Logan is (2 of the 3 bridges/tunnels have tolls; the one I normally used didn't have a toll - the tolls were cashless/all electronic, and I didn't have a transponder). The toll+fee went to Avis, and Avis just passed it to me, by charging my credit card. No big deal.
