I think we can all agree that the US (some parts of it at least) have the best/most free guns laws in the world. The question is who's number 2? I've heard the Czech Republic is pretty good, I think they're one of the only other countries where the average private citizen can get a CCW. I think it's also possible to own full auto there. Switzerland of course issues every adult male a Sig 550, but I hear other than that they're actually somewhat restrictive. I think Israel is a similar situation too. So, what foreign country do you guys think has the best gun rights?

    Best gun laws

Since laws vary from state to state I would put Texas and Virginia at the top. AG Holder seems to like Mexico.

Guns are quite plentiful in the Philippines and from what I hear the laws not very restrictive. Yemen has a constitutional right to bear arms. I think a lot of countries which report low gun ownership (especially in war torn places like central Africa), the actual ownership is a lot higher due to black markets that don't get figured in the official numbers.

The problem comes in those countries being either restrictive in other critical areas or else inherently dangerous.

Not sure about the Czech Republic, but it sounds about right. Many of the former soviet satellites have pretty good gun laws. They remember what knocks on the door at midnite meant. As for Israel, no thanks. Their gun laws blow. When you can get a carry license it's may issue and very few are issued. They're a socialist country, not a free wheeling place like the US. People seem to think they're great because they see soldiers and settlers carrying M-16's and Uzi's around that they have good gun laws. Not even. It's hard for the average person to get a license and they're heavily regulated. South Africa used to be good, back many years ago, but with the change of government they've done everything they can to disarm people. Someone mentioned the PI and I'd say they were dead on. Have a friend who lives there most of the year and he carries with no hassles. Most folks who can afford a gun do, apparently. Permits are apparently easy to get, even for foreigners who live there.

I'm not sure why more people do not recognize Israel as a police state. Fox News runs commercials asking me to send them food.

CRAP Devil Dog, I clicked on here intending to say Somalia, and read the thread to make sure I was going to be the first, then you said it on the last post in the thread! ARghhh

    +1 For Somalia

    US is number 2 :D

But I think the U.S has a few key points that make it a little better to generally reside in, compared to Somalia.

Let's get this straight. Texas sucks. And Virginia? Oh, please. Along with Indiana (which is better than those two), they only seem to be tolerable because certain other states suck that much worse.

Yes, and I have been advised by an escapee or two from behind the Iron Curtain of the bad old days that a large part of their concern/fear and disappointment is that there isn't anywhere left to go if the United States goes down the toilet.
    Added for emphasis.

    Somalia...

Man, other than the kid with the Sturmgewehr, those Somali's have better trigger discipline than you see at most US gun ranges, shops or shows. :)

That is because unlike most American the somalian's in those pictures have most likely used their weapons 'for real' ;)
