Best deal I ever got was Marlin 22 Semi for $60 an an auction. Best deal I missed was a Winchester 97 12ga pump with external hammer, went for a little over $100. Didn't think I had a chance, could have bought it and more than doubled my money at a Cowboy match!

bought a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 mag for $50 a few years back. it had a 1/4" coat of cat hair on it...after i cleaned it up there was nothing remotely wrong with it and was in perfect shape due to the "protective" cat hair. hard part was taking the whole thing apart to get the hair out.

Found an m95 Steyr-Mannlicher for $135 here locally.

May sound like a lot for an m95, but considering it was the long rifle, not import marked, and came with a correct Austrian bayonet, I feel like I made off with a steal.

Most other things I end up overpaying for, so it all balances out in the end. ;)

Mine is an M1 carbine given to me by my father in law. It had no trigger group but that made it exciting to learn about the history of the rifle as I found parts. It's now shooting just fine and a gun I don't think I'll ever part with. I don't shoot it often but it's a great conversation piece.

Best I ever got, and one I missed!

Best deal I ever got was a nice old Marlin .22 for $60.00 an an auction. then I missed getting a Winchester 1897 12 ga pump for just over $100 at that same auction. Could have more than doubled my money selling it at a cowboy match. Didn't bid cause I thought everyone bidding knew what it was, and my funds were limited at the time, but I had the money for that price!

Beside the free gifted guns I've recieved, I was on a business trip about 20yrs ago and had the entire day to screw off. I was reading the local paper and came across a ad for a retired gunshop owner selling off old inventory/retirement plan that day. I jumped in the rental car and when I got there, there must have been 20 LEO's rummaging through the 200+ guns the guy had there. I ended up with a stainless S&W 45 auto 457 for 200.00 and the real deal although I didn't realize it at the time was the colt 1911 GI for 75.00 (I made a 100.00 on that one and let a buddy have it. I could still kick myself)

A used S&W 5906 in 90%+ with 3 factory mags in original box and all, for $275. By far the most comfortably 9mm ive ever shot. I traded it for a Ruger SP101 which got traded for a 64-8 and some car parts :D.

That and 2 Mossberg bolt action shotguns a 190 and a 185 for $50 out the door. One needed a bolt ($65) and the other was in bad need of a sandblast and refinish. :rockwoot:

    1952 Marlin 30-30 saddle rifle.

I received the original book, receipt and the box of ammo the man bought with the rifle new in 1952.
The rifle had never been fired.

    $100.00 cash

Got a Mauser in .22/.250 as a gift, built by my uncle and stocked by my brother.
Used to set clay pigeons on the bank and flip them at 200 yds.
Could never flip them back as they would break every time.

I don't know what the best deal is but here's a couple of the better deals I've gotten:

Marlin 1894 Octagon (the older model, not the Cowboy) .44 mag, near mint, for $200

Glock 17, holster, 6 mags, and 2 boxes of ammo for $300

Kimber Team Match with 2 triggers and 2 sets of sights $800
