What is the best front porch gun?

Everyone knows what a trunk gun is!

With the warmer weather, I do some of my work on the country porch I have. To be honest, it will sit on a table.

What is the best gun to have sitting on the porch when a crazy neighbor or zombie just happens to catch me on the phone or sitting down on the porch?

I'm open to your ideas.

If you don't have a whole lot of neighbors to worry about I would suggest some type of battle rifle. Crazy neighbors and zombies both hate battle rifles. Otherwise I would say a shotgun with 00 buck.

The "cha-chink" of a pump 12ga and the word "Whadayouwant?", I find, are very effective deterrents.

The 1911 on my right hip usually gets a look or two as well from visitors who may or may not be invited.
