I don't know what the big deal is with owning a Glock. I have looked and held one and wasn't impressed by them at all. I have bought a few guns the past few months but the last one I bought,Ruger SR45,has been the one I like most, especially for $475 out the door new. Gander sells the same SR45 for $80 more then I paid for mine.I rarely go there if I can find the same somewhere else cheaper since they are overpriced on everything

You shouldn't have to give a used pistol away because you shot 50 rounds out of it. You just saved the buyer $20 in "break in" ammo. Honestly, I don't think $450 for a barely used glock is that high. Most are willing to negotiate.

Then buy a kel tec and get over it. Seriously, the buyer determines the value of the item being sold, stop being pissed that you can't buy a Glock for $200...

I am not expecting to get one for $200. However when I have a $800 new retail price gun up for trade, and people get their panties in a wad about me wanting another $250 ontop of their glock that retails for $560 that's just stupid. they are BOTH used guns. but somehow their glock appreciates and my gun depreciates exponentially lol. I know this goes along with everyone wanting to get the best deal in their favor, but out of all the offers ive gotten, people with $300 shotguns realize they have to add appropriate funds to get a more expensive gun, but every single glock owner who has offered me trade wants to just trade straight up, and when I politely and nicely say that they will have to add some cash with their glock for my gun, they loose their fing minds.

and yes, I am probably going to have to just go ahead and buy a new one. since logic has no bearing on used glock prices... (and then ill put it up for sale for more than a new one haha)

Because everyone is different. I like my Glocks, but I also like my M&P and my Walther, plus the FNX-40 I tried out and a couple of 1911's I've shot. Some people like Glock, some like S&W and some like multiple weapons regardless of who makes them. I fall into the latter category. To each their own.

You shouldn't have to give a used pistol away because you shot 50 rounds out of it. You just saved the buyer $20 in "break in" ammo. Honestly, I don't think $450 for a barely used glock is that high. Most are willing to negotiate.

I dunno, I automatically take $30 - $50 off any used gun when I look at pricing. If someone priced a used gun for $20 off retail, I'll just buy it new thanks. The only reason I want a used gun is to get a better price. $450 is in line with used Glocks and I've bought several from this forum for that price. If someone is asking more, they better have extra mags or other things that raise the price, otherwise I'll pass. I've seen plenty of other weapons posted for ridiculous prices, not just Glocks. Plenty of times I've seen SA Range Officers posted for $750 plus, when I can get it for that price at most LGS's and about the same with FFL fee from online sources. It's not just Glock's that people price too high, but as someone said, they post it for what they think it's worth and either someone will agree, or the thread will hang around until they drop the price to the point where someone is willing to buy it. NBD.

Almost everyone tries to get top $$$ out of their used piece, this thread is irrelevant. Glock's are on sale at LGS's often, buy a new one and have piece of mind. Please carry on with your scheduled bickering.

Anybody else notice the double dose of irony in this post?

First he complains about the price of used firearms while admitting that everybody with whom he has negotiated has made it clear that his asking price is higher than they are willing to pay. Pot calling the Glock black.

Second, he's complaining of Glock owners while admitting he is going to become one.

I agree with a lot of people in this thread. I've sold my share of glocks. I had a Gen 2 Glock 17 that I sold for $400. I don't think Ive ever asked more then $450 for a Glock.

I collect 19's, and even the LGS's I frequent sell used 19's from $469 on up. The new ones in the case are $509. The problem is, if you can call it a problem, the 19's sell, and sell fast.

There are many factors that go into the pricing of any object. The price one is willing to pay, and the price one is willing to part with are just a few. There is also supply and demand, marginal utility, price vs. value (think of the diamond water paradox Adam Smith wrote about.)

I believe part of these inflated prices you are talking about is because over the past few years it has been harder, not impossible, to find a new Glock in stores. Even if you find one it might not be the exact one you wanted. Also the demand for Glocks, and all guns in general, has skyrocketed. So now the used market knows this information and the prices go up because there is an increased demand for used Glocks.

Now if it is easier to find them in stores the used prices will eventually go down, because if those people want to sell their product they will have to lower their prices.

The logic still holds it is just frustrating sometimes, but is better to be in a "free" market (even though we are not in a completely free market) than a command market or some other socialistic system.

Is this for your beat to hell looking Colt 1991? My Glock 17 has about 300 in it on top of the price of the base gun. I wouldn't give you more than 700 (and that's pushing it) for a Colt 1991 in the shape yours looks to be in. That's not me getting my panties in a wad, that's me having a value on my property, and agreeing or disagreeing with the value you put on yours. Welcome to America, that's how we do.

As has been said, if you don't like the prices people are offering you, go buy a new one or trade your Colt into a LGS. But please, stop crying because you don't like the way the other kids are playing with you. But doing what you're doing is not productive, and could be considered downright rude.

Stereotyping a (very large) group of people for the behavior of a few? And you are exhibiting the same behavior yourself? Sounds like you would be right at home working for Diane Feinstein or Carolyn McCarthy.

I think what he said made sense. He has a weapon worth roughly $800. People are wanting to trade a weapon worth $560 for it even up, he asks for some cash ($250) to balance things out and they flip. Maybe you are reading something into this that I have missed?

Did you explain the $300 work you had into it? Additions and custom work isn't something you can always count on recouping when you sell.

I never put an offer on it. I just take umbrage to putting a whole group of people (Glock owners) into one category (delusional dicks) based on limited experience. It's the same as liberal gun grabbers who want to impose further legislation when a small number of insane people commit crimes. I'm sorry he's not getting what he wanted out of his ad, but that's really no reason to start a whole new thread complaining about it.

Not to mention that the OP is a little delusional in the value of his own gun, given it's less than perfect condition.

I have two Glocks. I also have a Beretta 92, a Ruger GP 100 and a Smith 642. At some point or another I've carried each one of them. I was first drawn to the 19 because of it's relative small size and a 15 round magazine vs my 92 and it's 15 round magazine. I shoot both equally well so to be it was a no brainer. Carry the 19-lighter weight plus 16 rounds ready to rock.
Sometimes I get the feeling that some people don't actually read past the title.

I'm not reading anything into it, but i do think you've missed the glaringly obvious: It apparently isn't worth that $800 if nobody is offering that much for it.
