I use different handles for different interest related websites. In ye olden days of USENET I used to use my real name, but too many experiences with internet stalkers and people crossing over differences of opinion into real life, in one case my wife's boss threatening to fire her for what I posted which had nothing to do with him or her, or her work. In my field I am extremely well known, so I prefer to keep cross-pollination to a minimum. I don't have different personas though, I'm the same person in different places as the few folks who know who I am who are also on INGO can attest.

It actually isn't hard at all. Here is a trick that I find useful. When you create your bookmarks for these sites, make sure to add your user name as part of the bookmark name.

Ex: INGunOwners (SilentWarrior1)

That way, every time you click the link to go to that site, you will have the ID right in front of you.

I would just use my name, but back when I first started posting on forums, I didn't feel comfortable with it.
