Looking to purchase a new gun. I found a deal on 10mm rounds. Can get 900 JHP full loads for $350. Thought this was a good deal. So I've been looking for a Glock 29. Been all over local gun shops and went to the Lafayette gun show. Nothing available. Not surprised. Now I'm wondering if I should get a .30-06 instead and pass on the great deal for the 10mm rounds. The only rifles I currently own are a 91/30 and 10/22. Thinking the .30-06 would be a nice addition. I currently have a .40 xd which I love, a sig p238 and s&w 686 for my ccw. Not sure what I need most. Another ccw, or a nice rifle. Any thoughts? Don't plan on doing anything special with either option, just want to buy a new toy for the collection.

Sounds like you could use a shotgun, unless you don't hunt or trap shoot or anything like that. If not, I would go with a new rifle, and .30-06 would be a fine caliber.

Depending on the brand of 10mm JHP's you can get...It's fairly easy to get the Prvi Partizan 10MM JHP's for $20/box of 50, which works out to $360 for 900 rounds...not that great of a deal. I shot them all the time when I had my Glock 20C. Not a very hot round, but it cycled the gun. I'm thinking the 900 rounds is not enough for me to jump into a new caliber...particularly when that caliber is going to start costing me a butt load of dough once my initial "wad" is shot.

That Prvi gives 10mm a bad name. Im considering getting rid of all my 10mm in favor of as much underwood as I can get for the money I get out of my existing ammo.

OP, look for something like an M1 garand. THAT is a 30-06 you could have a LOT of fun with!

Hey Bishop if you're still looking for a Glock in 10mm Terre Haute guns has a new 29sf for $550ish. I think there website is terrehauteguns.com. It would be a little bit of a drive for you but worth it if you had your mind set on a 10mm.

If your looking for a 10mm, I have The Witness 10mm Tanfoglio. Its a lot better looking then a Glock, but if you want the Glock then get it. 10mm is a beast. Im trying to sell it or trade it. One of the vendors at the Lafayette show last weekend wanted to trade me for the XD 40 straight up but I already have the XD 40. I paid a little over $600 for it.

    Either choice

no matter what you decide to do,it will be extremely hard to find a Glock 29 or good .30-06 rifle at a reasonable price. If you can get it for a good deal, i think buying a ccw or rifle would be a good choice. Think about the future....

Haven't tried in Terre Haute yet. Thanks for all the responses, I will check it out. If I can leave the wife at home I might get both. Better to ask for forgivness instead of permission sometimes.
