one other thing......those old M1911's where not heat treated and prone to crack.....and if i was to shoot it i would shoot very light loads in it.....i have a Remington UMC 1918 and it seats in a nice display case....
Thats sick. My grandfather gave my dad a nazi luger he got off an officer in WW2, but that would be a little ridiculous to carry IMHO.... not to mention the whole value thing.
I wonder if he had his 1911 before he passed away :/
Lammchop93...do you have access to "Clawson Collector's Guide" ??
not entirely sure what that is. I'm still relatively new to the world of guns.
i have a copy.....did you call Colt and give them the serial numbers for the date of 1914?
What about one of them new Kimber Solos? From holding one a few weeks ago, I like the feel and it's of quality..it's a Kimber
.....i don't see the halo....
I did some research and based of the serial number (19615) it appears to be a 1914. I did contact the archive service at Colt and gave them all of the info on the gun that I knew, and they are doing their research and will be getting me a certificate of authenticity for the gun that should be here by the end of this year. I contacted them back in early August to start the archive service research.
as per the guide it shipped in 1913...serial numbers 17251 to 36400.....19,150 where shipped to the miltary....
