    Tanto, straight back, curved, speartipped?

    What tickles your fancy?

I'm a tanto man, no real reason, just what has always caught my eye.

    Different shapes for different uses.

I like drop point blades for utility, clip point Bowie style blades for collecting, and tanto is probably the oldest and arguably the best for blade shape for self defense.

This is kinda like trying to pick which one of your kids you like better:dunno:. Different blades for different strokes (every pun intended). Just a lot to be said for a drop point, and a Wharnnie for EDCing.

I have to dress up for work most of the time and I lean toward fixed blades that disappear in a back pocket with a pocket sheath. Eddie White's XX, Michael Morris' designs, a couple from BHK, especially the Drover. The inportant thing is knowing it's there when you need it:twocents:.

I used to love the tanto, and for piercing it's really hard to beat. However, the spear point has become my new favorite. The SOG Spec Elite blade shape is very appealing to me. Looks like it offers a good compromise between the traditional clip point and tanto. A tanto with a mild curve along the belly would probably grab my attention as well.
