My son and a friend went out with my Savage .17 and .22 both are bull barreled. They did well and you could see with out asking which ones were hit with the .17. Not the best choice if you intend to eat what you shoot.

I have been told that if you are using a .17HMR you have to do head shots, I didn't know that until I pulled the trigger.:dunno:
Now I take my .410 for the close shots & keep the .17HMR for long range head shots. .410 & .17 is about the only squirrel loads you can still buy.

When I was growing up I used to get my bag limit many times using an old .22 single shot. Now you couldn't pay me to eat a squirrel.

Deadeye Christa's model 60. She dearly loves it, as did I in younger days. I also like Sharpshooter Shelby's model 60 in irons. I have a fieldmaster that Kalboy was kind enough to drive up to Paoli to sell to me, and have been cognifying over using it...

I'll stick with my 10/22, hasn't failed me yet (though I've failed it more than once). Grandpa's 39A would be my second choice, If my brother lets it out of his safe... :):

    the ol palimino

Palamino lever action for me, light, with a super nice scope
    im deadly accurate with it.
I have super accurate 22's set for target but the palimino is my go to varmint slayer.
This was my second rat slayer after the nylon 66
