Remington owns them now. I have a carbon that hits all the bulls on the multiple target paper. That being said, it's an excellent paper killer. I wouldn't part with it.
Nope. they were bought by Cerberus Capital Management , which became part of The Freedom Group. Who owns Remington, marlin, DPMS, and others. The plant in windham, maine was closed.
So did the quality actually decrease? Or more specifically, are they now a brand to avoid? Is the same to be said of dpms?
If Cerberus owns it, you can bet the quality has decreased.
Cool, thanks for the education! That being said, is dpms and Bushmaster still better than PSA and Anderson, or all of them budget/range toys until you get to the lwrc/Daniel defense/Cobalt level? I've even heard new Colt is not near as good as old Colt. Is mid-range considered the Springfield saint/Sig m400?
In the earlier days of the AR15, ABC (Armalite, Bushmaster and Colt) made the good ones. These three companies were the most trusted AR15 manufacturers. This made me think of this old thread.

I always had good luck with Bushmasters back in the day. Even had one of the infamous purple lowers lol.
I know windham weaponry is pretty much the old bushmaster company, and i’ve heard nothing but great things about them. I honestly don’t understand why people criticize bushmasters’ quality, I’ve shot 2 of them and thought they were solid rifles. I think because bushmasters are everywhere and reasonably priced, the people who own $1500+ Daniel defense rifles have to justify the cost by bad mouthing the cheaper AR’s.
