illegal at live casino? The law states riverboat casinos. State fairgrounds is ok unless the state fair is going on. I carried at the 1500 and even showed my gun to the cops for one of those orange thingys and they said have a good day. I didn't know if there were any other suburbs that had laws preventing you from CCing in their city.

Your entire post should be in purple. It's not illegal to carry at Indiana Live, a Children's museum, a zoo, or the state fairgrounds other than during the State Fair.

Places it is illegal to carry (even with license) under Indiana law.
    - In or On School Property.
    - On A School Bus.
    - In or On Property That Is Being Used By a School for a School Function.

Where am I allowed to carry in Indiana?
Assuming you have your LTCH...not schools (including churches with preschools), not most government buildings, not most Federal property, not most of Indy City Parks. Yes, you can carry in most state parks.

A more specific list of where you can NOT carry:
k-12 schools, property used for school functions
    school buses
    Head Start
    preschools
    private schools
    riverboat casinos
    airport sterile areas
    shipping ports
    State fairgrounds during State Fair
Post office (questionable, as it may not actually be Federal property)
Where prohibited by local ordinance, on gov't property

Some of these are not mandated by state statute, but are delegated. For example, there is no actual law prohibiting carry on riverboat casinos. However, there are laws delegating the authority to the Indiana Gaming Commission to define their own administrative rules. The IGC has significant "teeth" to enforce their administrative rules, including providing for criminal prosecution.

I found this in the FAQs but where can I find statutes that tell what cities have laws against CC or OC??? I would hate to go to jail in Speedway thinking my LTCH has me covered in this state. If cities can make their own laws against carrying then why do we have a state issued license???? Very confusing.

I read tonight that it is illegal to CC in speedway???? Is this true. Where else is it illegal to CC? Is there an Indiana code on this somewhere?

It is an old town ordinance that predates state preemption.
It is not enforced but still on the books and legit.

There is no other town in Indiana that has such an ordinance against concealing a gun that I've ever heard of.

Watch out for the Children's museum. They have a "school" now, but I am not sure if anyone ever found out if they are school like is covered in the IC.

So ...Is it Illeagal to CC in Speedway ???..Inquiring minds need to know !

The laws I listed are at the state level. Yes it is illegal to CC in Speedway, because they have a grandfathered in law against CCing. It isn't inforced, so I hear, but it is nonetheless illegal.

If a school is on property, then yes I would assume it is illegal. However, I was referring to children's museums in general. I am from Muncie, and there is no school in the Muncie Children's Museum.

I've got a question along this line.

As for "property being used by a school for a school function...."

If I am sitting in taco bell enjoying my Baja Blast, (best soda ever, by the way,) and a busload of school children stop by on their way back from a field trip to....some field, somewhere, am I then in violation for concealed carrying in a "property being used by a school for a school function?"

What about other areas, besides restaurants? If they take a school trip to somewhere that I am otherwise entitled to carry in, could I get into trouble for being on the same property with a gun when they show up?

This has come up a bunch.....

Only if the school function has exclusive access to the facility. In other words, the rented it out.

    Examples:
    - School trip to Conner Prairie: STILL LEGAL TO CARRY
    - A High School rents Conseco Fieldhouse for Graduation - NOW ILLEGAL TO CARRY

On the Indy Children's Museaum - I've looked it up and this is a licensed daycare/preschool on site. The entire Children's Museum property (including parking garages) would now be considered a school. I am sure all of the hoodlums in the surrounding neighborhood will disarm before jacking you in the parking lot:rolleyes:

Cite? IIRC (and I'm happy to be proven wrong), it's not actually illegal by statute, but the authority to criminalize carry in casinos was delegated by statute to the Indiana Gaming Commission, and in their administrative rules they have stiff penalties (including criminal charges and forfeiture). I'll have to look it up when I have a minute.

Illegel to carry in public parks? The biggest reason I don't go to the state fair is because I can't carry and I have heard too many horror stories of people walking back to thier cars and getting jacked up. That neighborhood is one of the worst in Indianapolis.

Illegel to carry in public parks?
    Depends.

Indianapolis, Avon, Danville, Plainfield - illegal to carry (town/city ordinance)

Brownsburg - LEGAL (town ordinance only bans municipal BUILDINGS, not all property)

Someone had a Park Carry go/no-go thread a while back. It was a pretty good list. Mostly no-go, though. :(
