Unbelievable. It used to be that if you even hinted that a member of the State Department is a Communist people would run in circles around the conference room table and accuse you of this or that "ism".

Now they write articles about how the clever the Communists were to infiltrate the U.S. government.

Foreign Affairs admits that Harry Dexter White was a communist spy. Where is the statue to Joe McCarthy in D.C.?

Wow. Truly remarkable. I hadn't heard that about White at all!

And, it strikes me that he was really a Marxist. It wasn't so much about political ideology as economists trying to see the future. He (and others) could split off the Soviet political system from the economic principles that Marx described.

    Fascinating stuff!

Two of my customers and their teenage daughter came in and she is doing the "Crucible" at CHS in her drama class...I asked if her teacher had brought up "McCarthyism" or "The Red Scare"...She said he did....I then hand wrote her a note that the next time he brings that up she is supposed to pull out the paper and say, "I am to ask you about the Venona papers, and with the evidence in the Verona papers proving that Joe McCarthy was, in fact correct, could you please stop poisoning the minds of imprressionable teens by villifying this great American hero..."

    We will see what happens...

No outrage anymore because the communists are in power. They just call themselves progressives or socialists.

C'mon Kirk, don't you remember in 1991 when the USSR collapsed and the KGB agents were spilling the archive secrets, and 1995 when the Venona papers were released? Alger Hiss was a spy, Harry Bridges was a spy, Lauchlin Currie was a spy, Jack O'Dell was a spy, Harry Dexter White was a spy. They were all spies and agents, as McCarthy said, but it was an inconvenient truth. The fellow travelers and their progeny are still in DC, so don't expect any apologies.

Times have changed and from a Socialist viewpoint, a Communist is just a bit more empowered. They all hope to grow up and be full card-carrying party members someday.

The party-state has a great deal of attraction to those in power. You can dispense with all the formalities of elections and worrying about voters. Since, BY DEFINITION the party (which is the state) knows best, we don't need all the overhead of corporate directors and CEOs and stock markets. It's all centrally planned in a very "green", efficient, and totally safe manner.

The problem is that IT DOESN'T work! Never has and never will! If you take away the incentive to work, most people won't! I know Mitt Romney caught a lot of flack for the "47%" argument. But he struck a nerve there and while the % may be wrong (I think it's higher) the principle is there.

Typical socialist tactics. Deny the charges, vilify the opponents, and finally just shrug and say it's no big deal.

So the Council on Foreign Relations is shrugging off the communist spying of their own prominent members. :coffee:

The CFR produced lots of communists at high-levels of government. Alger Hiss (spy), Lauchlin Currie (spy), Harry Dexter White (spy), Dean Acheson, John Carter Vincent, to name a few from that period.

Not surprisingly, the same group dedicated to globalism and undermining American sovereignty was also crucial in forming the United Nations. Forty-seven CFR members were among the American delegates to the founding of the U.N. in San Francisco in 1945.

Thanks for bringing this up. I remember reading about Venona and all this awhile ago in the 1990s, I'm not sure when it was. I want to say maybe it was an Anne Coulter book (ya, ya)...
