That is a pretty uninformed post that no instructor on the planet would agree with. It's not just your hearing indoors it's your family's too. A good can and a tax stamp is cheaper than a single hearing aid. A single shot in a house could permanently damage a child's hearing. Chances of donning ear pro in a home invasion are iffy at best.

I'm doubtful you've shot in a small enclosed space without hearing protection and don't have permanent loss.

Bingo. I was shooting an AK at an indoor range when the seal on my right earmuff broke. It only took one shot to rupture my eardrum. And it’s not just a matter of hearing loss, it’s also disorienting at the moment it happens. I’m not sure why someone would needlessly sacrifice their faculties in a self-defense situation. Suffice to say, my HD rifle sports a can now.

Replacing springs? To make run efficiently or wear out quicker?
They'll wear out much faster. I believe the suggested replacement for springs in a 10.3 is half that of an 11.5. One inch for double the spring life is worth it IMO.

Don't quote me on this, but I think it was 3500 rounds for a 10.3 and 6500 for a 11.5
