I have never been in a combat situation. There was no war during my enlistment.

I did do desert warfare training in 29Palms Ca. and I have NO desire to go back there again.

My father in law always talked about going back. He served '65-'67 . Came back with 2 Purple Hearts and a messed up arm. But he always talked about how beautiful the country was when he arrived. He died 6 years ago of Agent Orange so he never got the chance. He loved being a soldier. Good post ,thanks.

Maybe to try to reclaim some of their youth and innocence; I know I lost much of mine at 18 yo at Cam Le and Ashau Valley but no, I have no desire to return and take a chance to waken finally buried memories...good or bad.

Serving 5 Tours aboard ship hauling thousands of Marines, Seebee's, and supplies into Vietnam there is no chance in HELL that there is a power or force that could ever want to make me go back. NEVER!!!!

"What makes Vietnam veterans different from World War II veterans who go back is that we lost in Vietnam," says Paulette Curtis, an anthropologist at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind."
This quote from an educator shows either total ignorance of history or extreme prejudice. There is a big difference in visiting the country and becoming an ex-patriot. Guilt sometimes drives people to extremes.
