Go talk to the parents and let them know that state law requires you to notify anyone living within 1000 feet of your about your recent sex offender status. Then remind them that their kids are playing on your property and you would appreciate it if they stop by to play more often. And tell them to have a nice day.

Scatter some porn mags and condom wrappers in the lower yard near the creek...The next time you see them out there put on a nice dress and heels of your wife's, step outside and say, "You kids play out there all you want...I'll just stay inside and watch....I have been for weeks..."

(You said funny was okay :))

Seriously I would have a talk with the parents, tell them what's going on and explain you would rather have them talk to the kids before getting LEO involved...

    Good Luck...
I knew I could count on you for a good idea! But I don't think my wife's dresses will fit me.
I'd like to get an officer to talk to the kids, I don't think talking to the parents is going to do me any good, but I am going to try.

You're saying that they are playing on your land with the land being in it's natural state? Not on a structure of any kind? I'm not talking about their mischief/vandalism.

    This matters.
Yes, playing in the yard, and creek. Leaving trash, and now stealing things from around the house and barn.

Give'm hell. Your property is an arm of your person. This being so, firmly stand upon those rights and enforce by the posting of signs, cameras, talking to parents, then LEO as the latter measure. Although sometimes it is a matter of reality to enforce the accountability and responsibility in a learned experience.

Not sure the beard would be a good look with the dress even if it fit! :):

Yeah, and then the neighbors tell everyone else. That's a rumor you can NEVER take back.

Purple means the post was a joke.

Anyways, post signage. Lots of it ASAP. It will provide at least some defense should one of the little idgits drown himself.

By the way you talk of their parents it doesn't sound like they'd bother to listen if you told them their kids were causing trouble. Would this be correct? If so, forget the talking. Skip to calling the law officers. If you can get the kids caught while still there that'd be great.

    How old are they anyways?

Video record you telling their parents to keep their brats off your property, and put up trail cams. If you catch them on camera, trespass them.

That's the only way to stop them from suing you if their brats get hurt on your property.

    -edit-

I ran into this issue before were the rental house next to me. Their kids were using my pier to fish and swim. I told them to stay off multiple times. Eventually called the police and filed a report.

An FYI, the cop tried arguing with me that my pier wasn't my property as it was over the water, and I said I didn't feel like testing it in court if they got hurt and sued me, and had to ask for a supervisor to file the trespassing report.

I'm thinking of the lawsuit angle. Would a registered letter to all neighbors to please make sure their children are not trespassing as it could be dangerous help any? Proof that you warned them that they could get hurt.

Ah, that's always a conundrum for me. We get the 15-18 trespassers most often. Real easy to yell at them and not feel bad about it. Even if they're being little ****s I still have trouble telling the little ones to get off my property.

It's way away from the house on posted land so we don't care all that much when there are trespassers. There's a rather popular swimming hole on our property so as long as they're not being too rambunctious we usually let them be. The few times we have had ones cutting fence or riding ATVs over the bean fields the sheriff handled it pretty well, and it didn't turn into a recurring problem.

Dress up like Sasquatch. Hide in the woods. When they show up come running out and scare the crap out of them. Win, win, kids don't come back and parents don't believe there story.

Oh, I don't have a problem yelling at them. I got home tonight and they were back there again. I chased them off and told them if they came back, I'd call the police. I also told them they're lucky I didn't let my dog out.

    1. Don't let the dog out.

    2. Buy signs, No Trespassing signs, lots of them.

    3. Post them this weekend.

    4. Start patrolling.

    5. If you see them, call the cops.

I would not yell at them ("that mean old man said he would kill us"). I would NOT let the dog out.

It is work to flex your rights. Get to it.
