Some years ago, my dad gave a WWII Walther PPK .32. I've just now begun to wonder what the "NSU" marking on the right side of the slide means. Is it a German unit mark, or maybe the original owner's initials? Or...
Search for Earl's repair service and give him a call. He is the all knowing when it comes to Walthers. I had a nickle PP from WW II that I had questions on and he could even tell me the date and factory it was made in even without any markings except the ser. numbers. He even told me what it was worth, way more than the 160.00 I paid for it. Sold it for 1000.00.
Before the Walthers were made in Zella Mehlis East Germany.
Directly after the war they were made in France by Manurhin.
When Walther were allowed to make firearms again in Germany in 1955, it was in Ulm am Donau
Is it a coincidence that NSU Werke AG Neckars Ulm is in the same city? Could it be that NSU did some manufacturing for Walther?
