(from the interwebz)
This is a very rare Thai or Siamese Type 91 carbine. These rifles started out as Japanese Arisaka type 38s that were modified by the Siamese in 1948 after the war. They have a very smooth and strong Arisaka action and are chambered in 6.5 JAP or 6.5 x 50mm. The Siamese modified the stocks and barrels to make them look and feel like the M1 carbines they liked so much. The stock is sporterized with a sling cut, and the bolt handle has been turned down with some inletting on the stock to allow it to sit nicely. They are very handy rifles in this configuration.
These are very rare, with just 2,255 of them thought to have been made. They were imported into the U.S. in small numbers in the late 70s. There are two versions of the Type 91. It is thought that 1,139 were made for the Royal Thai Police, while 1,116 were made for the Thai Military. This one is the latter. The military versions have a crest of a mythical circular weapon (actually a chakra symbol) on the receiver and a turned down bolt, while the police versions have a crest with a shield and sword on the receiver and a straight bolt.
Magazine cut off levers.......
What is the point? It's still not an M1 Carbine.

Even the Great Achilles had his heel .. Now that was a dark day, the yells still hang in my ears "faster Achilleus faster" ..but .. well... you know the rest
Alas we can not always get what we want and we must make due with what we can get..
