My excuse is usually "I like guns". Sometimes I add on "and it was a good deal", sometimes I don't.

I have bought guns before because I got a good deal on accessories. I bought a case of used G3 mags for a buck a piece a few years ago, so I pretty much have to buy a PTR91 sooner or later.

"This one is for our child due in May. If he/she doesn't want it that is fine........Yes, if we have a girl, we can change the grips to Pink. That is the nice thing about the 1911 platform, there are plenty of options."

I still get a hard time for it but I am two for two on buying 1911's for my kiddos.

My wife once purchased a firearm "cause it was cute". I am definitely smart enough not to question her reasoning, BUT it was a Rossi Ranch Hand!

LOL at some of the responses on here!!! My neighbor asked if I knew anyone who had a 20 gauge shotgun, he had about 500 rnds he was giving away. I went out and bought a 20 gauge and got 500 rnds for free!!!! That was a "good deal on a Remington 870!!!"

Several months ago I received a check in the mail that was unexpected. Basically found money.
It almost immediately turned into what I deemed "Free rifle Friday".
I ordered an H&R Handi-rifle in .45-70Govt in anticipation of some upcoming rule changes regarding deer regulations in Indiana.

When you buy them in the tought that your family members will enjoy shooting a specific gun when in reality you just have the itch to drool in the chamber of something new.

I I sit in my phone looking at gun porn nervous that my wife will ask me what I am looking at and I will have to say a 375 lever action with supple walnut hardware and case hardened finish with a long smooth bore!

About two years ago I found some S&W 59 series 9mm magazines I didn't know I had(have never had a 59 Smith)so I had to go out and buy one. Still had more magazines than I could justify with the single pistol so I bought another. Then I was feeling a little too thin on magazines so I went shopping for a few more but the only decent deal I could find was for a lot of 60 MecGars so suddenly I was too fat on magazines again. Bought more pistols. Then I realized I needed the same guns in .40S&W to compliment all the 9mms I'd been buying so I started accumulating those along with .40 magazines. Then I started thinking about the single-stack models in both 9mm and .40(and a .45 of course),.......along with the single-stack mags. Then holsters for everything. And spare parts,......mustn't forget the spare parts!

What started out two years ago as 8 magazines I didn't need has turned into 35 pistols, probably 200 magazines and maybe 50 holsters and a dozen complete parts sets,.........and I still don't need any of it(but I still shop GB a dozen times a day looking for more).

I am shameless. I use the "I want our children and grandchildren to have something of value one day when I am 6ft under". Seems to work so far?:)

Because I need it for my students to try at my Familiarization course... Helps that I also have a bunch of mags that work with the firearm, cause I have two other "generations" that have different grip styles than the one I need to help the students... *Have I talked in circles enough for you to tell me to just get the ¶*©%ing thing?*

I talked circles about getting a boat for awhile now. My grandfather decided he wanted out of his. My wife practically threw the check book at me. Sure she is tired of hearing about it and my gun trades.

I've used this a couple of times. When all other rationalizations come up short and it's a quality gun, then I call it a gift to grandchildren I hope to have someday. And, since I don't know how many grandchildren (or great-grandchildren) may be out there in the future, I need to make sure all of them are covered by buying as many as I want.

Well... I just found out that along with my armorer's certificate, I'll be getting an employee purchase discount for the purchase of one of the guns the class focused on. Now, I've never had a desire to own one (and they really haven't blipped "fabulous" on my radar)...but since I have an opportunity to "save" big - wellllllll.....
