I'm fairly mechanically able, but in light of new firearms expeditions I'm not too proud to be cautious and careful. By "fitted" you mean modified if it doesn't work out of the box right? Is there an order in which to proceed when it comes to these parts, or all at once? What's the grip safety do to improve the situation? Thanks!!

Dropping the hammer spring down to 19# is a pretty simple first mod. If going for the new sear, hammer and disconnector, look for a packaged set from someone like EGW or Harrison Design. If doing a fire control group, you might have to replace the thumb safety as those are hand fit and the new package might not work well with the existing safety.

you are upgrading an RIA I can guarantee the thumb will need attention as to its interference fit to the hammer.
A 1st time upgrade "Mechanic" if you will should have someone and the proper stones and tools to do this. If your gun is out of spec (as some are) some re-fit might be required to the sear.
This is not an area for a 1st timer. We gave a seminar recently and had 3 instructors with 5 people each and it took some time to get through every ones guns. There are some critical details involved.

I don't know if the following is my perfect 1911, but it checks a lot of boxes. I'm only quoting the pic above to highlight the vast diversity of 1911 styles. As a 1911 newbie, that's one of the things I love about the platform. Plus, in this new modern world, I think it's healthy for all of us to embrace diversity, right?

I'm probably going to go with some classier grips, but these sure feel great with full power Underwood rounds. This pistol balances near perfect for me.

I went with Les Baer TRSes. I have 2 Springfields too (TRP and a Lightweight that a client gifted me).

I have 10-8 sights on all of them. Magpul stocks. And I remove the overtravel screw (had it freeze in a couple of classes).

I really don't care about the finish. I leave the grip safeties alone. My hands are so thick that this is not an issue for me.

I prefer single side safeties. I like the serrations up front. I prefer Metalform 7 round mags, but have a bunch of others.

That's about it. Above all they must run like sewing machines.
