I've done some 2A advocacy and network with some friends who do the same in other states and we've been troubled for years by the rise of the Dorr Family and the way they scam gun owners in several states. It started in Iowa where they stole voter data from a home schooling lobbyist right in the Iowa Capitol (Proven and admitted in sworn testimony) and after the lead brother Aaron Dorr helped arrange a bribe between a state senator and Ron Paul's POTUS campaign. The state senator wound up in prison, but Aaron got off unscathed but didn't deny it. Soon after he started using the distribution list to send scary emails and mailers to Iowans with ridiculous and false threats to get them to send money. Our favorite was when he would roll down to the Capitol and film angry videos and leave without ever talking to anyone about doing anything pro-2A. He has been called out by legislators in several different states and I might cry if the dumb Dorr brothers come to Indiana. They were here for NRAAM with stupid banners on airplanes and pamphlets outside of Lucas Oil.

I bring this up because one of the brothers is raising tons of cash in Ohio and a reporter there shed some light on it today and I thought I'd share the article in case anyone ever hears of these clowns coming to Indy. Their scam went well enough in Iowa and Minnesota that they brought it to Ohio.

And that’s a main criticism of the Dorrs — detractors say their operations are less designed to promote pro-gun legislation, and more to drive fundraising to their growing political operation. In its most recent three years, public tax filings show Minnesota Gun Rights — the only Dorr-run group that has disclosed fundraising expenses — reported spending $601,221, of which 90% was spent on fundraising.

They claim zero pay and send tons of money off for consulting fees to an undisclosed llc in Des Moines, Iowa that happens to be owned by Iowa Gun Owners, ran by Aaron Dorr, the oldest brother.

A facebook group exists to expose the scam as well: https://www.facebook.com/trueiowagunowners

They operate Ohio Gun Owners, Minessota Gun Rights, Ohio Gun Owners, and are trying to start a national group called the American Firearms Coalition. It's all a huge scam. Anyways, I thought you'd like an article on gun scammers and a heads up in case they ever set up in Indiana.

NPR is currently unrolling a podcast series on a series of scammers who run multiple 'gun-rights' organizations and really goes into the nuts and bolts of how people play off emotions and enrich themselves at the expense of gun-owners.

They're talking about the constant fear mongering and fund-raising combined with funneling money to privately owned media companies ran by the non-profit operator. These guys have a huge social media following and I wouldn't be shocked if someone here hadn't accidentally tossed em a like at some point in time.

I sincerely hope this leads to these men being behind bars someday. The thought of robbing pro-2A people who will make sacrifices in life to give money truly makes me want to puke.

I still have never run across them.
I do hope INGOistas are supporting ISRPA more than it seems from the lack of mentions here.

[Note to Admins: I was going to post this in the Gun Guy Show thread, as it was during his show yesterday that I found out about them, but the more I dug into it, the more I came to believe it should have greater visibility with its own thread.]

Among his hosting several candidates for state and federal legislative offices, Guy Relford also did a portion of one of this weekend's WIBC Guy Guy Show segments talking about "Indiana Firearms Coalition, Inc.". Guy's right, it's a scam operation. Their official Indiana USPS HQ address is a private mail box at a UPS Store located on East Washington St. near Mitthoeffer Rd. in Indianapolis. These "private PO Boxes" at places such as a UPS Store will forward all mail to another postal address for a monthly fee. This is a common strategy for those that want to obfuscate where they're actually located. UPS won't tell you where the mail is being forwarded unless you get a subpoena for it.

I did a bit of digging myself. It's a 501(c)(4), which is a non-profit "Social Welfare" organization (legal IRS definition) that, unlike a 501(c)(3), can engage in endorsing specific political candidates and effectively campaigning for them. Contributions to a 501(c)(4) are not tax deductible. Tried to get an effective link to the IRS page on them to post here, but to no avail. Did make a screenshot and PDF of it. The PDF is attached. Also attached their IRS non-profit 501(c)4) determination letter.

Organization is operated by Aaron Dorr. Took a bit of searching to track him down. He's one of four brothers in Iowa (plus at least one other non-Dorr) -- yes Iowa -- that have set up a growing number of non-profit 501(c)(4) alleged 2A advocacy organizations across the country. Aaron is the main front man, assisted by younger brothers, Chris, Ben, and Alex (and at least one other who isn't a "Dorr"). Like all too many non-profits (e.g. David Hogg's), it's actually a non-profit "business" created to support themselves. He endeared himself to the Iowa State Legislature, getting his start there some years ago, angering a number of generally pro-2A legislators, slandering them.

Since then he's created a national organization, and fifteen state organizations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The web sites for them all are cookie cutter clones. Just change the state names, address for the state headquarters, etc. Their Alabama state HQ is located in [drum roll please] a UPS Store private PO box in Montgomery. Their Florida state HQ is located in (you guessed it) a UPS Store private PO box in Tallahassee. I didn't go further than the Indiana, Alabama and Florida state HQs. It would have been a waste of time.

His antics in Iowa were enough to get the attention of The Trace, which did an expose on the brothers four years ago in 2020, and another one in the same year by The Daily Mail in the UK. Quite impressive when you get the attention of a major UK newspaper, albeit quite negative.

The four brothers (plus) have also set up similar networks of 501(c)(4). One of them four years ago was during the COVID 19 Pandemic for allegedly fighting shutdown orders, quarantines, and masking requirements.

Bottom Line:
Indiana Firearms Coalition, Inc. is a non-profit do-nothing scam operation enriching the four brothers (plus) operating a panoply of identical organizations in fifteen states, plus a national one. Any money sent to them is wasted.

(Note: Suite 400 is the UPS Store in the shopping center; Box 331 is the private P.O. Box in the UPS Store.)

Once again INGO is out in front on these issues. Rep Ben Smaltz (heavy hitter in getting ConC passed) was on with Guy (The Gun Guy Show WIBC 93.1) and said that while researching these scammers Indiana Gun Owners had info back in 2019!

We rock!! :rockwoot:
I heard that segment finally. I’ve been working against these pricks ever since I first saw them in Iowa. Glad to hear the callout segment.
