Free Speech shut down at peaceful rally in Virginia
Peaceful protesters demonstrated at a pro-choice rally in Richmond, Virginia. The SWAT were called out to make arrests and intimidate the crowd. Riot shields and paramilitary police surrounded the state capitol and hauled away the peaceful citizens for sitting on the capitol steps.

This is becoming the norm for reacting to non-violent demonstrators.

I never realized that tearing a baby apart, limb by limb, inside the womb was either peaceful or non-violent. I also never realized that chemically burning a baby to death, inside the womb, was either peaceful or non-violent.

Maybe if these folks at least had a parade permit they would not have been hassled for advocating killing children?

I've been reading up on this. I haven't seen a report of things getting out of hand until those that brought grenade launchers and covered their faces arrived on the scene. Where was the problem before the Eo-techs and thigh holsters with covered faces showed up?

I 100% support their right to protest for their cause, in accordance with the first ammendment, but...

1. Since when are bullhorns "peace"ful? There is such a thing as "disturbing the peace" and it is against the law to do so. I firmly believe that if a case of a police breakup of a protest ever reached the courts, "peaceful" will be interpreted to mean, in part, maintaining appropriate levels of noise.

2. There are rules and laws regarding use of public space and if you do not follow them you are removed. (The Tea Party never required forceful removal because they always followed them.)

3. Non-compliance with a lawful police order is resisting.

4. I saw no violence on the part of the police, so what if they wear scary suits.

There are like 3 abortion threads going on right now if you need to vent.

This one is about political protest.
