I copy mine just for my info, not for reuse if the original is lost. Had a billfold stolen, wroet ISP with the details and had a new license in 4 weeks or so.

So, while you were waiting for a replacement, were you legally allowed to carry? I am assuming not. That would suck to have to wait.

Why else would you use pink paper? I hope people don't copy their resume' on such color.

Well that may explain why I never hear back after sending out my resume ;)

I have a scanned copy at home, original is laminated and in my wallet. If I lose I probably also lost my wallet and then I'd have a bit more to worry about than just getting replacement.

Well, not to be contrary, but the odds are pretty good that it is not in fact, a perfect copy... {{http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2008/10/effs-yellow-dots-mystery-instructables}} Most brand-name printers have, apparently since about the late '90s, printed off almost-microscopic yellow dots on all pages printed which reveal: make, model, brand, serial-number (which could be personally-identifying, potentially), as well as date and time of printing. Not sure if yours is one of the many brand-name printers which do this, but I made a few test prints the other day with my own HP color inkjet, and lo and behold, under a magnifying glass... tiny yellow dots. /[my paranoia]

I really think this shows the tru conspiracy where all LEO and prosecutor are in cahoots to get us all arrested for impersonating a LTCH holder.

Funny how people look for ways to screw themselves up. I have my original from 1995 still laminated as a memento. Copy- don't copy- it is your choice but if you are going to be that worried then pay the $20. Back when I was 16 I misplaced my IL D/L the new stated duplicate on it. I was warned not to use my original if I found it since supposedly that one was no longer valid and as IL used the D/L as bond for traffic stops back then it made sense.

The LTCH is just a pink piece of paper with no anti-forgery or tampering features so I say pick your choice and enjoy.

Myself, In my wallet id holder with no lamination and $20 won't break me if my wallet goes for a swim with my guns in a horrible boating tragedy.lol

I would have to be extra careful carrying while waiting for the replacement but still wouldn't lose sleep over it. :twocent:

I just recieved my LTCH this morning and went to the local office depot to have copies made and laminate it. The lady behind the counter said she wsn't allowed to make copies of the permit, that a county sheriff came in weeks back and told them they could be arrested for it.

So i just had mine laminated and was on my way

Sounds to me like the local sheriff is a complete moron. He/She is just trying to throw their weight around. There is NO IC that forbids the copying of the LTCH. So basically like I said before, the sheriff is a complete moron, and if it were me behind the counter, I would have told dumba** to tell me IC making it illegal...

that's what I thought, but didn't know the letter of the law so didn't argue the fact. I hadn't even shown her the liscense she just saw the pink paper and started right in.

Dont EVER trust a LEO to know the law about firearms, that is what I have found...

    INGunGuy

I don't trust ANYONE to know the law about firearms. Why do you think lawyers have those huge books on their shelves w/ all the laws in them??? Nobody knows every law there is.

Personally I would like the LTC to be like a license. Have your picture & be hard plastic so if it were to get wet it wouldn't be destroyed.

Man, oh man. I had the EXACT same experience this spring with a female employee at the Staples in Jasper. Down to the ILLEGAL spiel. It must be catching.

You would have though I was asking to copy some kiddy porn or something. I could barely get a word in edgewise, and I'm a bit of a smartass.

Knowing the law doesn't help at these places. They know it "better."

I went to Staples out in Fort Wayne to get a copy of mine. The guy looks at me, looks at the permit and says "Are we allowed to make copies of Government issued licenses?" I said "Well, I just made a copy of my drivers license the other day and no one gave me crap about that. Now either copy it, or I will start taking my business elsewhere."

I had 2 copies made and laminated.

I stopped by the Staples in Fort Wayne this weekend too, and was told I couldn't copy the license on pink paper. The woman at the counter was polite about it at least. They were fine with copying the license onto white paper but that came out looking like crap because of the original color (and of course won't fool any police officers anyway). I mostly just wanted a copy for my records and it's legible, so I'm reasonably satisfied; I'll be moving soon and had planned on getting an copy with my new address on it anyway.

I would argue it isn't your legal document until you sign it.....which it isn't when it is received in the mail....right? It is just a document with your legal license number in it.

I took mine and my sons to T&D Printing in New Haven. The woman there was very courteous and helpful. She printed both on the same paper to save me money and laminated them for me. Only cost me a few bucks. It was obvious I was not the first person they had done this for.

It was proposed several years ago in the Gen Assy and I hear it's making a comeback: Your drivers license will contain a notation (like an endorsement) that you are a LTCH holder, which will make the "Permit" unecessary as a separate form.

I am firmly against this Idea! :noway:
It is not a vehicle so it should not be on my Drivers License.

Staples would not copy mine on pink paper also. I was told they would copy it on white paper, but not pink. I promptly left there and went to the Office Max 2 miles away and they had no problem copying it.
