^Isnt it legal to have to handgun in your car (personal property) even if its parked on school property? I'm relatively certain I was ok there.

Nope. No firearms on the property unless it's in the car, in your possession, while picking up or dropping off. You also cannot step out of the vehicle.

Not unless attached to you in a pick up or drop off as far as I know!

    Correct.

Yes. I can ignore the first guy as soon as he started name calling but others jumping in with their enlightened opinions mean the gloves come off.

Hopefully we can start a new thread when we actually know what's going on and stop all this speculation and arguing.

    Sweet! Let's throw down.

Knew I should have copyrighted that...

    In before JFC is copyrighted!

 Might as well shoot for the moon.

    That was the plan.

    Just a short comment:

Alan "Ding Dong" Dershowitz is not, and never will attain the status of former Supreme Court Justice Holmes.

If it takes Dershowitz several pages to explain why yelling "Fire" in a crowded theater is not a crime, he needs to go back to law school. Or, better yet, become a Supreme Court Justice. Oh, I forgot, you have to have a US President appoint you.

Dershowitz is another shining example of an educated idiot.

    Mr. Burton:

    I'll condense my point:

If Mr. Dershowitz was such a "legal expert" as some folks think he is, then he should be in charge of the Supreme Court.

Then he can show us how archaic Mr. Holmes thinking is or was.

It looks like you do not have a complete grasp of the law either, funny how you are calling him out.

See, if he wasn't picking a student up or dropping them off it wouldn't matter if he got out of the vehicle. Scary how few people understand that law.

What I think he is trying to say is that its illegal to have a firearm on the property(not necessarily on the street) unless you are picking up or dropping somebody off to a school or a school function, so as long as you stay in the car with the car running.

If you left it in your car while parked on the street, I would think you would be legal.
