We've got a lot of well trained veterans returning from the Gulf that can't find jobs. Why not give them some jobs? I'd much rather have a veteran guarding schools than the TSA, IMHO.

Yeah, I'm with you but given the .gov labeling these vets as potential terrorists that would probably not happen.

Think I'm joining NRA, sadly though media will probably only show the demisrtators protesting.....and Obama will not go along with anything he said and will probably try and stop NRA in everything they do.....they want Gun Free schools....it makes their voters feel better.

Schools are already gun free zones. They already have that. They can't get any more gun free.

So far it, s : video games = worst kind of pornography and turn our schools into police states.... I'm curious how this will wrap up.

Nada about letting teachers defend themselves and more federal laws and mandates.

You have to point the finger somewhere I guess. I don't think banning video games is the answer any more than banning guns. That being said, I hardly see video games as the best way to develop a healthy respect for firearms or what they do (btw, if that kindergarten killer thing is real, that is seriously effed up :().

People who want to ban video games or guns are just absolving themselves of the fact that some people, probably even themselves, just suck at being responsible parents. That's not to say they're bad, just irresponsible in letting others make your decisions for you. It again comes down to a lack of knowledge. When my kids are old enough to start asking to play some of the same stuff I do, I fully intend on finding whatever videos or images I can online to show them EXACTLY what a gun can do, and that real honest to God violence doesn't look like it does in the game. If it's hard for them to look at, so be it, but I'll be damned if they don't understand the consequences of pulling the trigger on another person. I'm going to know EXACTLY what they're watching and playing, at least while they're in MY house.

I interpreted the comment of putting a police officer in every school as an immediate course of action. Meanwhile they will help schools determine their need for security and will fund the training of volunteer individuals to provide security in the schools. Therefore you would no longer need a LEO in every school.

I am pleased with the press conference. I feel more at ease that legislation to further regulate firearms will not be getting through. Lets see how the lefties/antis try to spin this one.

I was skeptical as to what would be said this morning, however, i thought it was a well spoken speech.

Great points throughout, began by pretty much saying the AWB proposal would do absolutely nothing, spoke about arming law abiding citizens, and gave their thoughts on a good solution to safer schools...

I beleive the NRA just went to 4,000,001 members strong. :yesway:

I liked what I heard. LaPierre kept his cool during the interruptions and the program he outlined would have positive results. Now I'm waiting to see how the drive-by media spins it and how the sheeple react.

Media is ****ting themselves right now. Get ready to read some super non-biased articles, if you haven't already.

Hell, Kotaku (gaming website) released an article DURING the damn conference.

Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb here (pretty sure it's safe though) and say if someone from the NRA had pulled that kind of stunt at a gun-control support news conference, there would have been yelling and possibly violence...

    Well done, NRA. Well done.

Of course, the Feds are going home for the holidays and will just let this die, only to return and talk about a ban again next year. Skunks.

Agreed. It's all about education! My 2 year old, and my 4 year old both see my guns, and I do my best to explain their function! My 12 year old is an excellent marksman, and has been around guns his whole life. The way I see it, Don't hide them like they are a dirty secret! Instead, teach them respect, and educate them on what a firearm can do! Kill their curiosity, and they won't be as compelled to, "Play" with them! I honestly don't think videogames or movies have anything whatsoever,to do with kids picking up guns and shooting themselves or others. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for, and they KNOW, that they are just fiction. Rap videos, on the other hand, glamorize a lifestyle of murder, and crime, to kids who apparently have no role models, other than parents, who glamorize the same bullsh*t! Ban shi#@y parents, and the rest will fall into place!

Columbine had armed security... Wayne, probably after one too many drinks with Asa, has become stuck on stupid.
I'm not trying to debate the past. I was simply answering a question. Drunk or not, LaPierre's proposition is far more proactive than the left's plan of banning everything but muzzle-loaders!
