R.I.P., Nick. Deepest condolences from our family to the Schultz family.

Sadly, this is where becoming an 'entitlement' society leads. This case should make that crystal clear even to the 'cops are just JBT's in military gear' crowd.

There'll be 'screams' coming from low-life Shannon Watts and MDA over this tragedy, no doubt.

My prayers to the family and friends of this fine young man that chose a career of helping out people and ended up paying for his career choice with his life. Karma at least balanced out by the fact that the murdering scum lost his life as well. I agree with ModernGunner that the consequences of an entitlement mentality are encroaching upon us, prepare accordingly.

I knew Nick, played football with him. One of the nicest, honest guys you'd ever meet.

Freaking shame, hope I see his parents next weekend. RIP Nick, and may the POS who did this to you rot in hell

Wow..... This is becoming a weekly thing. Will the police now riot en-masse and burn down the city starting with their own homes? No? I just thought that since our elected leaders support that response to "unwarranted" killings, maybe it would be worth a try. What's good for the goose......

    So let's see
    1) you lose your job
    2) you hire an atty to fight the evict because you are just behind on the homeowner fees and lose
    3) you girlfriend leaves you
    4) your credit cards are 6K in the whole with no way to pay them
    5) you get kick out of the only place you call home
    6) you have 80K in debt over the lost court case

So what do you have left?
You corner an animals don't expect that animal to go quietly into the afterlife

ISP: Officer shot remains on life support | WISH-TV

The above story states his still on life support>
    I hope this is accurate.

But I'm still puzzling over how this turned into something that required LE. That's not to say that it didn't warrant LE. But I've evicted plenty and never even needed the constable to do the forcible eviction (which isn't as fun as it sounds). Did he gain actual re-entry into the unit? There are definitely some missing details.

Didn't read the whole thread but I have to say it's odd that the suspect was armored just after the bill was introduced to restrict body armor.I'm not a tin foil hat guy but it sure makes me want to check the sky for black helicopters.

Body armor usage is not the norm, but also not unusual. The guy who robbed the armored car at Walmart on the Southside was armored. I've found armor on several search warrants of robbery suspects homes.

    88gt read the local article.
Shooter lost his court case over the homeowner association fees.
Company evicted him a month ago. Lake county sheriff did the eviction.
Shooter then goes back into unit.
Company finds out and calls police to come back to emove shooter.
Police kick in the door and a shoot out ensures.

Well, in retrospect, is it possible that he lost his job and girlfriend because he was a P.O.S?

    Just sayin'.

It seems like the vast majority of humanity is able to move on and rebuild their lives instead of resorting to acting like a cornered animal. I'm sure he's not the only person to be evicted, lose a relationship, etc.

Meh...any thirty-something male could basically accomplish all that in a rough weekend in Vegas.

That's not a corner, that's a hole that one has dug and thrown oneself into.

Men have been killing people for a long time because they suck at life, not a good excuse.

I was going to say he could've just wrote a country song and moved on.

All of those things accumulate over time. You don't just BAM have debt. You don't just get evicted, you have to get to a point where someone is willing to evict you then they have 3 months after that. Hell the people in my GFs condo next door haven't paid their mortgage in over a year and still live there. AAAAAnd still have cable on a giant flat screen tv, smoke, drive a 2 year old car, go on vacations...
