I have the perfect compromise. If we can't stop the amnesty, we should give them all guns, like you can't become an American citizen without owning some guns. This way we create more of us.

The need for some impenetrable wall or fence would be significantly reduced if there were less desire for those folks to want to move up here. If they knew there'd be no freebies and no jobs available without going through the proper channels, I would think this would be far more manageable. And employers hiring these folks should be held accountable as well.

I have no problems with some sort of reform that would make it easier for people wanting to legally come here to work or immigrate use and/or comply with. I do not support open borders and we should insist the rule of law be followed.
You are so right. This is the direction we need to go. Although it seems instead we make it more desirable for them to come here illegally with each passing day.

What's wrong with just wanting an orderly immigration system where you know who is coming in? My relatives came in via Ellis Island. It wasn't free to come in and didn't prevent immigration at all.
An orderly immigration system is vastly different than a wall/fence with a minefield stretching the whole distance of the border with armed guards?

There never was an Ellis Island for those coming from Mexico to the States. It was an open border for a large part of our history. Not feasible in today's world, but I don't think the wall is the answer.

Any of you guys ever worked in the fields all day? Planting,picking,weeding....ever carried a bundle of shingles Up a ladder or lay them on a hot roof?
Have you fought in a foreign land for a country that your not a citizen of?
Next time you go to the grocery I hope you appreciate the people that break their backs, sweat their balls off so you can live an easy life.

What does this have to do with granting amnesty to illegals?

Hate to break it to you, Bog, but those people are already going back and forth across the border unmolested. Sometimes with the help of the feds. That's been going on for decades.
I'm full well and aware they are. I certainly don't want to make it any easier, and everyone here would agree it should probably be made more difficult for such to get through.

I've done most of those, including working in a grocery store. I did the jobs that, for some reason, many think Americans won't do. And they'll do them if we do the real reform we ought to be doing--allow people to go hungry, pay for their own cell phones, figure out how to make their own rent for this month, etc. Discomfort can be a powerful motivator.

So, where is our appreciation? :):

I had motivation. I was indoctrinated with the idea taking handouts were for trash, the lazy, and losers. When I was younger, I needed the money for cars, dates, toys, and fun so I went to work. Later on, even though I could afford to pay folks to do certain jobs, I did them my self because I wanted to learn a skill (plus I'm a cheapskate). I don't know about appreciation but I got the satisfaction of knowing I did those things myself.

Amnesty/pardon is a purely executive action. Almost nothing the legislative branch can do about it... .
So pardon for breaking the law for illegally entering the US is an executive power. I don't think that Constitutional executive power to pardon breaking a law extends to granting US citizenship.

The way Obama uses and abuses the presidency is scary. He is so out of his depth and has surrounded himself with dangerous advisors. It's like watching a 16 year old boy with a brand new Corvette. Sadly the Republicans are like tolerant parents and won't take the keys away.

I just hope he doesn't total the country before he is out of office and all the disastrous things he does can be repaired.

Can't grant citizenship, but it is an executive power to decide when/where to enforce the laws. That's how our system is set up. Executive can decide to stop enforcing federal drug laws, too (like possession of marijuhoochie in states where it is legal).

It's fairly obvious from the rhetoric of the libtards that they have a distinct desire to turn the U.S. into another 3rd world country, as happened with Mexico.

I guess then, like the Liar-In-Chief's 'ideal', the U.S. will be 'just the same' as other countries. Third world countries. The 'concept' appears to be equivalency by dragging down the better nations, not uplifting the worse ones. Great 'concept'...

    Fixed that for you :):

I'm sorry that people chose to break the law to come here. I'm sorry that these illegal immigrants are exploited. But most of all I'm sorry that people think these law breakers should be rewarded.

I hear all this talk about "breaking the law," but I don't know whether crossing the border without a visa is a misdemeanor or felony. I'm under the impression that it actually belongs to the category of administrative violation, like speeding or parking next to a hydrant. Under the current law, they don't serve time for it or get fined for it. So to me that says our system regards crossing border without a visa somewhat better than a speeding ticket.
