There's another dude in Moscow that pimps those rides with Tvs and leather. He's on eBay from time to time.

So how's it going with this, vitamink?

You do anything to prep it for winter? Aux heater, etc?

Is it everything you'd hoped it would be? You still have it, right?

The HMMWV is great! It amazes me that it fires right up every time no matter the temperature or conditions. The only drawback is the fact that it has 50x the amount of oil seals that a normal car has. If you don’t move it often enough the seals will begin to leak. Fixing them is easy, and keeping it moving is fun so no big deal there. Right now it’s mostly used in parades, car shows, Wounded Warrior stuff, and veteran reunions. Veterans love to let their Kids play on it and really enjoy driving it. So far they’ve all said it’s better than what they had when they were in so it makes me feel good that I’m keeping it up to snuff. I belong to the Military Vehicle Preservation Association and I’m the only one with a HMMWV. Its nice as those guys often come across HMMWV parts like glow plugs or doors that they can’t use. Other than Diesel, I don’t have to spend much $ on it.

Fast forward to 7:55 to see some Vietnam vets playing around with it. It's someone else's video and it's only about two seconds but you can hear it running.

I’ve added a few things since I brought it home.

1.An airlift bumper
2.Rhino tire carrier
3.Tear drop shackles
4.24bolt wrangler mtr spare
5.Mk64 gun mount
6.Aux radiator fan
7.An/Vic3 intercom system
8.Gutted Sincgars radio

I’m currently installing an Ibis Tek HID bar with IR driving lights. I’m waiting for a warm enough day to paint it as they were developed during the middle east conflict and therefore painted CARC tan. This is in case I want to drive this big noisy bastard in middle of the night without anyone seeing me.

I’m also in contact with a local fella who’s going to attempt to make a special forces hood rack for it as you can’t buy the real thing and even if you could, you’d go broke.

As far as heating goes, I’m going to install some 24v heat pads for the seats. If that’s not enough I have a propane tent heater that can help out if needed. I may install the artic heater and insulation kit, but that seems sort of extreme.

You can still ride along. Hell, you can even drive it if you want. I'm planning on taking it to a cancer benefit at the Melody Inn on the 28th. It's currently being worked on. I'm doing the wiring for the control box for the Ibis Tek Bar and i should be finished by tomorrow. I just disassembled the bar itself and i'm sanding and painting it CARC green. Realistically i should have just taped off the lights and sprayed over the thing as that's what would have been done in the .mil but i guess i wanted a more uniform appearance. The picture below is of the bar disassembled. The black boxes are the IR LEDs. Once I get it installed ill take a picture in pitch black with just the IR driving lights, turn signals and light bar on while wearing NVGs.

I just finished milling down the "medium tow bar feet" for the towbar. I figured i need that incase i have another catastrophic incident like the geared hub explosion of 2013. I painted the feet black and sleeved the hole so it can fit the tow bar pins without any rattles.

Send me a text about a week out as i won't have my new work schedule until the end of december.

Update time:

Just finished painting and installing the new light bar. Wiring is yet to come, but it's pretty easy. I would have done it now, but it's freezing and dark out.

The control box…
I'm torn between painting it and leaving it tan. If i leave it tan i get to keep the labels. If i paint it, i have to strip them. Thoughts?

Also if anyone sees a set of these, give me a PM :)
