I am extremely interested in your views and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Please find the enclosed money order written on the First Bank of the Old Republic for $17.76 which is written on the back of the inside of a pseudoephedrine box, a dead vole and pieces of string which are legal tender under the Articles of Confederation.

Sorry, my sister writes the newsletter. I haven't heard from her since she and her boyfriend left for California on vacation, with her favorite bag.

I'll just quote one of your responses because the others hinge on the same assumptions of national case law application which I am contesting.

You are making the mistake of attempting to apply case law from states where the simple carry (or at least open carry, in most states) of

I whole hartedly agree to the above but I guess what I'm trying to get at was that most people assume that if a police officer says ( hey can I talk to you for a min.) That they are being detained which is not true. The individual has the right at that point to say "I don't consent to an encounter, officer." And continue walking now if the officer (orders you to come with him and he would like a word with the person) then the officer is initiating a Terry stop and the individual must comply and if the officer ask for identification & license to carry the individual also must comply to stay within the Law

Then that would be great but that but that will never happen until somebody has the balls to challenge it in court....

    Now I'm just confused...

Sorry, my sister writes the newsletter.

So, you don't read or write your newsletters either? Man, does anyone write his own newsletter anymore?

I don't think anyone at INGO believes that. People here are educated or very ready to learn about their civil rights. That's a good thing.

Anywho, other than some incorrect assumptions in your flyer, I think it is a good idea. It helps organize your thoughts.

But what about if I want to carry around my ol' cap-n-ball revolver that my grandpappy gave me? I gotta have a license (note the proper spelling)?

Good first post. The remaining 17 individual posts cause me to wonder what you might be looking at in the classifieds ...

black powder cap and ball revolvers are exempt from requiring a licence to carry and the cited reason is it does not use a cartridge ammo

Another INGOism is that purple text generally indicates sarcasm so that other posters don't take things too seriously.

But beware, not all people use purple to indicate their sarcasm. Some people like their sarcasm to ooze such that purple should be unnecessary.

Open or concealed carrying interaction with LEOS? any body want to PILE on?

    FIFY

Back in the day when I first got my licence it wasn't an issue because I concealed carried. Now that I'm renewing my licence to lifetime and I'm getting older and fatter... lol, I realy don't want do deal with the hassle of concealed carry. I'd rather just throw a holster on my belt and go. So I started looking online trying to find info about current laws and how and what police are legally allowed to do and what info I'm legally required to provide during contact. Which was a pain in the butt because a lot of the answers to the questions I had were scattered all over the place so I decided to condense them into one handout. That I could give to a LEO for later reading. And to inform other individuals that have decided to carry as well. Just to give you my mindset and where I'm coming from I would like to layout a few points first so I don't get labeled as a gun nut.

    1. I feel that whether being a LEO or a ordinary citizen both should be versed in the law.
    2. When a person decides to become a LEO they should expect to be held to a higher standard and know the laws they are enforcing inside and out.
    3. We as ordinary citizens should exercise our freedoms and liberties continuesly, because a freedom not exercised is a freedom lost.
    4. And a firm belief in, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." And that goes for LEOS as well.

Would anybody else like to chime in?

OP I agree totally with you. This is the way it SHOULD be, unfortunately it is not.

You have done some good research and have compiled a well thought out pamphlet, (with minor errors, LTCF? duplexes upside down, case law listed out of chronological order)

Since you are new to INGO you don't realize that this has been hashed, rehashed, re-rehashed ad nauseam.

Another item I would point out to you (BTW welcome to INGO) is the ratings, post counts, join dates and in many cases the professions of those you contend to know more than.

All in all a good attempt as your first post. I wish you many years of happiness through learning here on INGO.

I think the "wallet" thread should be a sticky and all new INGO members should be directed to it to get a sense of the culture.

I think the "Wallet Thread" should have been lock a while back but that's me. Same with the "50 Posts" threads that abound along with the one that has been going on now for a year. :twocents:

Purple sucks. It negates the purpose of sarcasm. The best sarcasm is the stuff that you don't get on the first read.

Kirk is a free inhabitant. He enjoys all the rights of a U.S. citizen, but chooses not to follow any of its laws. It has served him well in his legal career.
He's on my short list of lawyers I'd call if in need of one..... Just saying. Of course he is kinda far away.

Last November I was in a car accident. Was rear ended by some kid without insurance. His car actually went up under my SUV lifting the rear wheels off of the ground. I had my pistol in the door and have my LTCH. Ambulance showed up and the LEOs took me out of the car and put me in the ambulance. I advised one of them where the handgun was and he kindly retrieved it and brought it to me in the ambulance. Told him I had the LTCH and he never even asked to see it. First got it at the young age of 21 and now almost 40 years later I still have it. That was the one and only time I have advised a LEO of it.

Any chance you guys that have said they are getting rid of the lifetime carry license could elaborate?

I assume I would be grandfathered in, Are they just going back to the every four years? Are they going to constitutional carry?
