      Deer Updates

Been really busy with work and haven't had time to post. Shot a nice buck during rifle season this year. I'm a bow hunter and never rifle hunted before this year so I borrowed my dads semi auto rugger 44 mag. Got in the stand around 3:30 and make a few grunt calls. Heard something behind me so I...

What knife do you prefer for field dressing a deer?

I always just use my old case trapper pocket knife. Small and sharp. The key is always keeping your knife sharp. It just makes everything so much easier.

      Knife storage

My dad used those roll ups a lot for a long time and a few of them discolored or stained some of the bone handles knives he kept in them. Not all of the roll up ones are created equal so make sure to research the ones you decide on if you go that route.

      Raccoon Lake Campground

It's a nice campground. We take the camper and kids there often all summer long. Not sure about the shore fishing as we have a boat but in general it is a pretty good fishing lake.

      Practicality of Damascus?

If you go with a stainless Damascus then it will hold up fine and not mess up the patterns at all. I carry a stainless Damascus folder daily and have for a few years. Use it for cutting food and all kinds of other stuff with no signs of wear at all.

      Practicality of Damascus?

Damascus can be made from many many different variations of steel. Some of it has great performance and some not so much. There is plenty out there that will hold its own and has outstanding performance abilities. As with all steels it has a lot to do with the heat treat and how the Damascus...

      Morels - 2016

I've heard of a few being found down past Bloomington as well. I think people will start posting pics of decent hauls within the next 2 weeks.

      Raccoon Lake

We camp there at least 16-20 days a year. It's a nice campground. Plenty of stuff to do and the fishing is pretty good as well. Lots of stuff to do with in a short drive also.

      Muskie Fishing on Bruce Lake

My brother and dad have fished it 3-4 times over the last few years with no fish caught or seen. Have heard of a few caught on accident by bass anglers but very few fish in the lake. And on the weekends there is always a lot of bass guys out fishing.

      Knife Picture Thread

Picked up this new one. I have always wanted a Graham Folder but the customs are just so expensive and hard to come by. I figured I would grab one of his midtech knives since I heard great things about them. This thing fires like a rocket. Strong detent so when it breaks loose it will almost...

      CRK Large Sebenza 21

Everyone has a different opinion on using higher end knives. I've carried and used pretty hard (abused) a few folders over the $1000 price point. I buy them to use. I think that is the only reason to purchase one. My father on thre other hand buys stuff I can only imagine of owning and they go...
