But that $1200 American made 1911 is a big pos. I'll take my RIA that eats everything vs a kimber that can't cycle anything....thank you very much. I like my firearms to actually work. Like my Glocks, CZs, and other foriegn firearms as well.
Even a HiPoint works better than that pos Kimber in the video

Edit to add I do love my Ruger SR1911 and it's American made. Sounds like this one wouldn't meet your standards either as it didn't cost $1500-3000. Goes bang everytime though.

For $1,200~ Scott could have gotten a Dan Wesson 10mm that would actually run. Again the 1911 is to me an American gun that should be made in America. Also correct I would have to spend more on the Ruger than it cost to get it to where I would actually be happy with it.

10mm's are awesome. Imagine 357 magnum +P power With the ability to shoot 10-16 rounds in a semiautomatic. Capacity would depend on your handgun preference.

I like 10mm as much as the next guy, but it's not a 357 +P. Its a good round, but it's never been better than a 357, and a 44 Mag would whoop it's butt. Depending on which load manual you go with, 10mm still falls short by 80-100fps (taking into account the 10" vs 5" barrel lengths. With 180gn loads out of both, the 357 is still more powerful. Capacity is the only reason for a semi auto. If you want to hunt with a handgun, get a wheelgun and do it right.

I use 800x and get around 1315 fps with 180gr in a 10mm 5" barrel. Notice that 357 is a 10" barrel. Reduce that velocity by around 125 fps for barrel length and it will be around 1275 fps in a 5" barrel. So it's pretty much the same velocity with the same length barrel.

Here is my 200gr WFNGC load

    17+1 in my G20 with Pearce +2 extensions ;)
Does it run reliably with factory 15 round springs with hot ammo or did you have to get +strength mag springs? I ask because I ran into an issue testing a new 200gr load and it turns out I had one of the original gen 3 glock 20 mags from at least a decade ago and the spring had gotten a touch too weak to keep up with the loading and I ended up having a slide lock issue that was resolved with a little fresher mag. It has me more conscious of mag extenders and spring life.

No issues as of yet running just about everything from 135gr to 200gr ammo. Pmc, Sellier & Beloit, Underwood, and Buffalo Bore

    ^ChurchMouse you are missed.^

Discussion about bear defense and you will see 10mm on the list.
454, 44 etc also of course. It's a good video.

    I got to handle the FN 10mm, Sig P320 10mm, and Smith & Wesson M&P 2 10mm today.
Right now it's a toss up between Sig, and Smith for ergonomics. I need to get my hands on the Springfield XDME 10mm also.
However, the new Performance Center S&W 10mm is looking like it may get the call.
That depends on how the XDME 10mm feels.

I have 3 pistols in 10mm. The STI PERFECT 10 is a 6" barrel, don't like 200 gr so use 180gr XTP's. A S&W 1006 eats everything. A EAA Witness that eats anything. The STI can hold 21 rounds in the big mag. My brother has a Kimber that is very ammo sensitive. Most factory ammo will not work in it. I reload for it, loading max loads using 180gr Horady XTP's or Golden Sabors. The Kimber has a very tight chamber. It isn't worth sending to a gunsmith and investing money in. It gives a shotgun pattern emptying the mag at a pie plate.
