    nate, thanks for the info on the book, Loading for competition damn that guy is long winded but so far it has lots of useful info, Just gotta figure out what to use.

    I have used Reloder 15 for the 75 grain .223 bullets. It is a good powder and also works with .308 and .30-06. It was recommended by a NRA high power shooter.

    so I went thru the paces today, and tested a bunch of varget loads it was worth the effort got some good results, All shots fired from bags at a hundred yard to take me as much out of the equation, as I could. so here they are listed by loads with grain charge of varget listed under each. Everything was loaded to 2.250 also to try and keep it consistant.

    I am deffinetly leaning towards the 75 hornady.

    what load looks best to you. For referance outer white is 4" solid orange is 2"

    Im thinking 75 grain hornady with a load of 21.5-22.0 grains varget
    or
    68 grain hornady over 24.0 grains of varget

    69 grain sierra wasn't bad but one of the group shots was actually suppose to be on the 25.5 target. I forgot which one I was shooting at for a sec. But overall the group wasn't bad.

    that's my thoughts. 21.5-22.0 gave close to same results in my 18" 8 twist with wylde chamber. I think I may be able to improve it a little by playing with the seating depth next. But It definitely is the route I will be going.

    Do you know if it might work in the 9" twist mid length (16") barrels? Yes, no, might be a crap shoot?

    Got back from sausage and eggs and realized I just said mid length and not 16".
    From what you've seen do you have any expectations on it working with 16"?

    Barrel length shouldn't be an issue; even at a pedestrian 2100fps the stability factor of a 75gr HPBT is 1.30 at 500' ASL and 59F, putting it above the mean of the "marginal stability" range (considered 1.00-1.40). As temperature and elevation increase stability increases, as temperature and elevation decrease stability decreases.

    If it will be accurate nor not depends on how your particular barrel likes the load; I've had loads shoot sub-MOA with a stability factor of 1.01.

    I personally think it is worth a try...

    The barrel length is the FPS and RPM factor; from what you're saying it sounds as though it is going to be stabilized sufficiently at 16" barrel achievable velocities.
    Cool. It's officially on my list to test.
